now that the four team trade went through, the raps look like a totally different team. Toronto’s depth chart looks like this now:
PG- Calderon, Ukic, Banks
SG- Wright, Derozan
SF- Turkoglu, George
PF- Bosh, Evans, Pops
C- Bargnani, O’Bryant

i think that team looks alright… very good starting unit, but weak back ups, especially in the front court.. dont think they should have traded humphries and jawai, could have thrown douby or banks in there in stead and kept a big guy..

so if they do get a back up big man now, who should they get? Petro, Mihm, Rasho(would love to have him back), Joel Anthony(good canadian boy) i would be happy with any of those for a back up big man

Will be the guy coming back, and Delfino…..hopefullt Pacers don’t match Jack. That would give us a good chance to play with the 2nd unit with some good pieces

well it seems like they’re going for both Rasho and Delfino so Pops is probably gone. It also seems like Rasho actually wants to be in Toronto so I don’t think it’s unthinkable for him to come to Toronto for the vet. min. i’m not sure how much money they’re working with so that’s why i would think they have to pay him the min.

also, they original trade originally included Douby but because of the CBA, they weren’t allowed to trade him so that’s why they had to put in Jawai.

i’d like to see banks and obryant moved… because who are we kidding they are not going to be impact players… banks will not see the floor behind calderon, jack (if we get him) AND ukic… then there’s obryant who will actually see a lot of minutes if we don’t get a GOOD backup centre… and that scares me… i would love rasho to come back… but i want pops to stay, he’s a great, gritty energy guy. I would also like to see delfino and/or kleiza come to the raptors, which would take the pressure off derozan to develop too fast, AND give him competition which could actually cause him to develop faster. Signing 1, 2, or even 3 of these guys, and i would dare say the raps could pull off 4 or 5 place in the east next year. Yes, you can call me a dreamer but wouldn’t that be kickarse?

the only reason why they’ll keep o’bryant over pops is because they picked up o’bryant’s option (which is for cheap anyways) and for pops, it was only a qualifying offer. I agree I would rather see pops but either way, both are probably not going to see much time anyways because reggie evans would eat up most of the time over either of them. that being said, o’bryant isn’t a strain on the raptors’ cap. banks just ain’t going to move, i really doubt anyone wants him. the only way he’s moving, it’s because another team wants someone on the raptors and they need to add him to make the matching contracts work. banks sucks

If they can find some way to trade Banks, this would be one of the better off seasons in NBA history.

O’Bryant is definately a gamble, but he could be quite good once he fgets stronger and has some stability in a system. he came out raw, and was fed table scraps in GS. He could develop well if given the right support. This being said, he is not ready to be a “solid contributor to the team” right now.

Banks … He is not in the plans and is not in the raps plans at all, BC will get rid of him the second he gets an offer for him, especially since it now looks very likely that the Raps will be Jacked up for the next 4/5 years.

Overall, this has been a great offseason, and the Raps could get even better with the right moves occurring (signing Rasho, hopefully Pops, and Delfino). It would not be bad for them to sign Kleiza if possible.

honestly, the best situation (assuming Jack comes to TO) would be for the Raps to re-sign Pops, and Delfino, sign Rasho, CUT Banks, and sign Kleiza (assuming they get some salary relief by cutting Banks. The financials might not allow this, but if the Raps supercharged accounting department can make this happen … WOW, they could be very good very fast!

the financial part of it probably wouldn’t work but i can guarantee that would make the raptors over the 15 player limit. they’re at 13 with jack so they can only get 2 more players. They’re saying that Delfino probably will stay in Europe for another year. Rasho wants to come so that’ll probably happen and because of how things work out, they’ll only have the bi-annual exempt left.
