Been hearing Gordon to the Jazz at #5, also the jazz trying desperately to move up to get wiggins or parker which I don’t think will happen. so staying at #5 and drafting Gordon I absolutely love. I think he is the type of player the jazz need high energy defensive and crazy athletic.

    what you all think?

He sort of projects as an energy guy off the bench.  No so sure I’m using the 5th pick for that

The Jazz brought him in for a second workout the other day to check if how good he shot in his first workout was a fluke or not.

They must be really high on Gordon if they wanna take him over Randle AND Vonleh.

Gordon seems too smart and athletic to be just that. He is a guy you start just because of his defense and IQ.

Here is why I think the Jazz want Gordon. I think their big board looks like this: 1, Jabari Parker 2, Andrew Wiggins, 3, Noah Vonleh, 4, Dante Exum, 5 Aaron Gordon, 6 Joel Embiid, and 7 Julius Randle.

Randle brings no defense, and Jazz badly need that next to Favors and/or Kanter. Randle is a pick and pop guy similar to Zach Randolph. Jazz already had a pick and pop guy that was 6’9, Carlos Boozer. And that didn’t work out for them so Randle is out of the question for that reason.

Embiid is injured and won’t be back until December or Mid Jan he could possibly miss the entire season. The Jazz want to make the playoffs next year or at least come close. They can’t get their with the basically roster as last year. That’s what they get if the select Embiid, because he could possibly miss the entire season. Jazz can’t wait that long, so Embiid is out of the question.

Vonleh and Exum might both be gone by the 5th pick. Philly likes Exum, and want to pair him with MCW. Vonleh had a really good workout in Orlando. And Orlando might choose him at 4 passing over Exum and Smart, which means at 12 they go with a PG.

Which means at 5 the Jazz would have Gordon, Randle, Smart, and Embiid to chose from. Smart didn’t even workout for the Jazz because he wants to play PG, and the Jazz already have Trey Burke there. His fault and his agent’s fault in the end. I have already discussed why Randle or Embiid shouldn’t be their pick so Gordon is the next best player available. Jazz think he can be their version AK. Gordon shot well in his first workout and apparently he had a second workout. (I’d like to see the link for that, thunderjerk.) I’m supposing he shot well in that workout proving that his shooting was not a fluke.

Some people think Gordon is just a high energy guy you bring off the bench, but that is dead wrong. This guy should be higher on draft boards. That much athleticism and defense and supposedly an improved shot. He can shoot, play D, block shots, and has terrific athleticism. He only needs to work on his free throw shooting and continue to improve his jumpshot. To me that means he should be higher on our big board’s. (This site has been hating on him all year but the hate needs to stop) He can play both the 3 and the 4, so Jazz could have a few different lineups with him.

    Possible lineups with Gordon:

    1. PG Burke SG Burks SF Hayward PF Favors C Kanter with Gordon backing up either Favors or Hayward (energy guy off bench)
    2. PG Burke SG Burks SF Hayward PF Gordon C Favors with Kanter backing up Favors
    3. PG Burke SG Hayward SF Gordon PF Favors C Kanter with Burks being a 6th off the bench backing up Hayward.

Jazz like versatility and passing. Gordon brings both of those very well , so it makes perfect sense that Gordon is their pick.

Their defense is really really bad. He addresses a need, and has enough work ethic to possibly develop into a good offensive weapon down the road.

He’s a Rodman type, every team can use him.

The Jazz need a star and Gordon does have that potential. It might take 4 years though, that shot is pretty bad right now. Have to love his athleticism, intelligence, attitude, and work ethic.
