has been great for Thad Matta for 4 seasons in Columbus.  He’s a great on the ball defender, he’s tough, competitive, smart and I don’t think anybody in college basketball plays harder than he does.  He’s been really good for college basketball and is a really smart kid,  Love watching this guy play.  He’s obviously limited at the NBA level with no sort of standout athleticism, no length, and no size.  The 2014 mock has hom going 59th.  I think he could really be a steal as a mid-second round pick and could have a solid career as a back-up.  Thoughts?

I love the way he plays on the ball defense and controls the tempo. He is a great college basketball player, and has a very high basketball IQ, and I hope he makes it as a career backup.

The only real knock I see from him as a second round steal is he can not shoot. He only shoots 27% from behind the three point line and I don’t see that getting more consistent when the line moves back farther. And the scary thing is his 3 point percentage has declined every year he has been at OSU.

he has a 50/50 shot of making the nba..the way he plays defense is the way they played it years ago….with the new rules,im not sure how it’ll play in today’s game..especially considering his height and lack of quickness….

but he’s a smart kid,a hardworker ,solid playmaker that gets his team mates involved..if he improves his shooting and gets in the right system,he could latch on as a 3rd point guard……

Mathew Dellavedova is in the League so he has a shot. It all depends on his shot, Patrick Beverly is another guy whose shot improved enough to let his defense keep him in the League.

Dellavedova was an ELITE pick and roll passer and a far superior ball handler and shooter than Craft. Beverly is way more athletic and far longer than Craft. I just don’t think Craft has the offensive skill set that will aloow him to translate to the NBA. I can see him carving out a nice career as a defensive stopper and possession heavy guard in the way more physical European leagues. He would actually be a hot commodity over there and that is nothing to sneeze at.

His defense will slip with the athletic curve at the next level. Offensively he’s a liability at the next level.

As others have stated, BAD BAD BAD players have ended up finding spots in the NBA for a year or two. But this isn’t by any means a long term rotation player.

i think he can find a roster spot in the nba.long as he can run an offense and isn’t a defensive liability.he can make a team.worse cause the d league or overseas not bad at all most players don’t make it that far andre miller isn’t the most athletic but he’s still in the league.just needs to go to the right team.

If his jumper wasn’t completely horrible, I think he’d have a shot at a roster spot, but as of now, I think he looks like a guy who could get drafted on leadership and his obvious defensive ability. He could be great pushing players in practice, and he’s a pretty low mistake guy. I’d be shocked if he went before 45 or 50, and could just as easily go undrafted, but I think he has a slim chance of making it because he seems like a guy a coach could want around, and give him a shot for a year or two on a minimum contract.

Craft is strong for a 6’2” guy and has above average size for a point,  he’s a great defender and a can run an offense and take care of the ball, but the form on his shot is awful and it hasn’t gotten much better in his four years at OSU. He could find his way on a roster, not all point guards can shoot, but that is a really glaring weakness and I don’t know if he can overcome it. Flip Pressey and Peyton Siva were two guys last year that were "too small" or "non-efficient" but both were top flight athletes despite their sizes and although they had shot issues, they were still better than Craft, but a coach could fall in love with Craft’s defense, even as a practice player and chose to keep him around as a 3rd PG to push his guards in practice. He’s a long shot, but I’m not counting him out.
