nath09ParticipantSometimes statistics lie but in last night’s Utah/Philapelphia game there was a stat that tells the story of the entire 76ers team and season.
Michael Carter-Williams 37m 15s plays on a +19. In the other 10m 45s Philadelphia was out-scored by 24 points.
The good: acquiring Carter-Williams. The bad: The phone is not going to ring to often enquiring about expendable pieces.
I think New Orleans or Houston have the record for player turnover in bringing back the percentage of minutes played from one season to the next; I think that the 76ers will give that a huge shake in the off season. (as too they should) However with plenty of picks and Nerlens up their sleeve their future does look quite optimistic.
I look forward to seeing the direction this franchise goes in over the next few years, it should be a really interesting journey for the fans, franchise and Michael Carter-Williams.

Sewok15ParticipantThe Sixers might be able to move Spencer Hawes or Evan Turner who are each havin their best seasons and are free agents this summer. They know they won’t get a ton in return for either of these guys but they might not mind adding a minor piece to move forward with while moving both players and ensuring one of the 2 worst records in the league.
Now Thad Young who is their best player over MCW at the moment. MCW is playing better than anticipated but his shooting has come back down to Earth and he is now under 40% from the field for the season and 29% from 3. Thad Young is shooting over 8% higher from the field and scoring the same amount of points while bringing the same kind of great defense (they both average 2.1 steals per game).
Thad is 25 years old and under contract for at least next season with a player option for the following year. He is someone they can move forward with or trade for some decent assets. Rumor has it they want an established young player and a pick for him and that might be a little too much.

nath09ParticipantI agree Thad Young is there best player and the only starter other than Carter-Williams I would want to keep. In regards to Carter-Williams shooting percentage; I know it’s low, the thing is with their 2 high picks of which one is going to be a top tier prospect they are in a position to draft any of them because they need help everywhere (aside from the point with MCW & Wroten). If the management is smart they will draft and trade around MCW’s shooting defficiany allowing him to focus on becoming the floor general using the strengths he has displayed thus far.

LitteringAnd…ParticipantThey’re going to have a decent pick, being high enough to select one of the elite wing prospects (I think it’s a push between Wiggins and Parker, one has the high ceiling, one has the low floor). Add to that Noel who I think can be a really good defense anchor, worst case a rich mans D. Jordan (and hasn’t he come along way this season). They’re basically adding two top-5 pick guys in their pick this year and Noel (would have gone higher but for the injury) which should make a really nice core of MCW-Parker/Wiggins-Noel.
If I’m Philly I keep Turner, his play has improved and as long as his shot keeps getting better, he and Wroten make a nice guard rotation. Thad Young is nice peice too and gives them the inside scoring punch that Noel lacks. Honestly the only guy I’d trade right now (unless the offer for Turner or Young is too good) is Hawes. His value is never going to be higher.

Sewok15ParticipantTurner’s long shot isn’t getting any better. Last year he shot a career high 36.5% from 3. This year he is shooting 28.5% from 3. He isn’t shooting any better he is just shooting more. He is making the exact same amount per game as he made last season in .7 but he is shooting .6 more 3’s per game. Now he has improved the rest of his game and I wouldn’t mind them keeping him but he doesn’t fit next to MCW because he can’t spread the floor and needs the ball. He also isn’t any good when he comes off the bench so unless he can accept that role he needs to go.
