Knicksboy42ParticipantFirst off, I don’t want Anthony to get traded, but between him and Amare, someone gotta go, and I think he has the most value. So here’s my idea
Carmelo Anthony to Sacramento for Marcus Thornton, Jason Thompson, Travis Outlaw, and a 2012 1st round pick.
If your Sacramento, you have two issues. You stink, and you don’t have anyone to bring in fans. Carmelo Anthony can help with both. You already have Thomas, Evans, and Cousins as a core three, throw in solid role players like Chuck Hayes, Terrance Williams, plus some developing rookies like Whiteside/Honeycutt/Jimmer, and the Kings have a nucleus of something. Not to mention, you can amnesty John Salmons’ contract, and you still have the MLE. The Kings would jump from a lottery team to (in my estimation), a team that could be in the running for a playoff spot.
If your the Knicks, you take back two semi-bad contracts (Thornton is 34 mil, Outlaw is 12 mil over the next 3) and you add a backup big man in Thompson, plus a lottery pick. If the Kings go to the top 3, SAC would give up next year’s pick. I think the goal will be to build around Amare, Lin, and Stoudemire, so that will mean they will need shooters. Thornton can shoot, and Outlaw, if he can come back, can be a decent shooter. If the Knicks do get the lottery pick, that can be a guy like Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, or even Terrance Jones, to replace Anthony at the SF spot.
I don’t want to sound bias, but I think it’s a good deal for Sacramento, and a decent deal for New York. The only issue I had is whether or not, Melo would stunts Cousins’ growth ( I don’t to be honest). What’s your opinion?

llperezI think sac wins this trade assuming Anthony doesn’t hold out or quit on them since he doesn’t want to be there which is most likely the case. But Thompson and outlaw are nothing special and can easily be replaced. Thornton is a very underrated player IMO. The draft pick is the real piece the Knicks would be adding and those are always a gamble.

Knicksboy42ParticipantWe can’t discuss a Carmelo Anthony deal?

TyroberParticipantAnthony isn’t the problem. The problem is has to do with Amare and his HUGE contract as well as Lin being hurt. Amare and Melo do not work well together and if I have to choose one then I want to keep Melo and trade Amare, but good luck with that.

TyroberParticipantAlso if you want a Melo to Kings trade then you need to start it with Evans, but again I do not think Melo is the problem.

– Not true, the offense is clogged, and the defense is bad. Amare is the bigger problem, I agree, but he’s almost untouchable right now in terms of trading for him.

– Nah.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantOne question, have we seen Lin-Anthony-Stoudemire all healthy while coached by Woodson?
I think we need to see what that would be like first. Woodson brings defense and his offensive sets for Carmelo are pretty good. Throw in the Lin-Amar’e pick-and-roll along with Lin’s ability to get everyone involved and I think they can be better than they are now.

Knicksboy42ParticipantOne question, have we seen Lin-Anthony-Stoudemire all healthy while coached by Woodson?
– We haven’t, but I don’t think we’re going to get it to be honest. I think the Knicks will try everything to pry Phil Jackson out of retirement to coach this team. They want him, he’s been rumored to be recieving 50 mil from NY, according to Yahoo. I think the Knicks will do something with that, and/or the roster. If the Knicks do consider improving, Melo is the only movable piece. In New York, you won’t be allowed to get swept twice. I think the fans, the people in high areas on the team, and more importantly, the media, will be critical on the Knicks and Anthony because, the Knicks didn’t want to move for him at the deadline. James Dolan did, he forced the deal. With two sweeps, I wouldn’t be shocked if Dolan soften his stance and that resulted in a move of Anthony.

phila9012Participanttoday was probably the worstday to post this. Anthony dropped over 40 points and came up big for knicks in their win. It is a moronic trade any day, but even dumber today

ChrisCrossParticipantI would neg the original post, but I think the message is already clear…

ChrisCrossParticipantbut honestly you don’t trade a player of Carmelo’s talent unless your in risk of loosing him like with Denver.

PulseGlazerParticipantThis is the dumbest trade I’ve ever seen on here. Carmelo could fetch Dwight. Why on earth would anyone trade him for worse role players and contracts than they gave up to get him?

Ghost01ParticipantWhat’s so intriguing is why the Knicks won’t trade Melo. He is definitely overrated and they definitely are not going to win a title with him and their current cap situation….but they just won’t do it.

rwd5035Participant"I think the goal will be to build around Amare, Lin, and Stoudemire…"
It disappointed me to find no one made fun of this excerpt in the original post. That’s a big 3 any franchise would love to build around, Damon Stoudemire could still be an asset to anyone in the league.
I’d make fun of the actual trade, but I think the real insult was the brain power I used to read, and effort I put in for about three minutes to decipher why the Knicks would accept such a trade. For someone titled "KnicksBoy" I find it odd you want to make your team significantly worse by trading your best player for cap fodder, and less talent. It’s one thing to trade Carmelo Anthony, it’s another to effectively commit basketball suicide. Taking this trade seriously is an insult to everything you know about the game of basketball. You get no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.
