 A guy to note that has been pushed off the radar by Lin even  though he’s put up somewhat comparable numbers as a starter… Isaiah Thomas! Ever since he became a starter for the Kings he’s been at 23.5 ppg, 8 apg, 5.5 rpg, and only 2 topg but has come up with only losses (one by 1 point to CLE, and the other by 12 to MIA). Granted its only been two games and is a much smaller sample size but its good to see this guy succeed. 5’9" PG and has shown flashes of being a possible long term starter for the Kings. Seems to me like Evans is playing better with Thomas in at PG and setting him up..

What do you guys think about him? Could he succeed in this league and could he be a better option at PG than their current players?

 Yeah isaiah is the answer at point in Sac soon to be Seattle. They need to draft Terrence jones or MKG or maybe even Davis if the lottery is kind. Then bring Calipari to town for a reunion to the nba. Lets face it this guy is the Pete Carrol of basketball (not implying scandal). He would end up developing and coaching players more in the pros anyway, all these 1and doners. He undoubtably has the respect for it.

 When I watched him play for Washington vs Arizona last year I immediatly became a fan.  He was throwing passes off the pick and roll I never saw before.  Bryan Amanning(I 4got how to spell his name sorry) would roll and Thomas would look towards the wing while simultaneously bouncing passes into small windows without looking right on the money for the finish.  It reminded me of Kurt Warner throwing the ball into windows for his recievers to run to and catch instead of throwing it directly to a WR.  Great passers have done it before like Kidd and even young White Chocolate but Thomas was making them in a tight game with everything on the line and it didn’t even seem risky or flashy it just seemed genius.

Not only that he carried Washington down the stretch and proved to be one of the most clutch players in all of college basketball last year.  He was like the Kemba Walker of the Pac 10, only obviously not quite that good.  But Thomas has world class athleticism packed in that small frame and a whole lot of skill.  I became a big fan of his last year and thought he warrented a 1st round look.  I wanted him to land on the Knicks and in D’Antoni’s system.  

If you pull up my post from before the draft i had Thomas ranked right behind Irving, Knight, Jimmer and Kemba.  I never understood why he wasn’t ranked higher.  He’s like Nate but different in that Thomas is a great passer.  

He’s for real.  I’m not sure if I’m ready to say he’s a starter but he’s for sure a rotation player in this league and will have a long career.  He has every tool in the book and he;’s a very good shooter.  He looked great shooting at the combine.

If there was anything I loved about the Kings draft, it was them picking Isaiah Thomas. I knew he would contribute and I am not surprised he is starting over Jimmer. This kid is a flat out warrior. Taylor Condrin is a UW fan, so he saw this guy make a huge impact from Day 1. Isaiah goes to my archrival school and I just flat out could never be mad at this guy. I respect his game, his toughness and just had a feeling he would carve a niche for himself.

So far, he has done that and than some. He honestly reminds me of Damon Stoudamire as a rookie. Damon was a better long range guy, but he did not have the strength of Isaiah. He is not easy to back down and I do not consider him that much of a defensive liability, even at his height. They may not have won either game he has scored over 20 in, but it was not at all his fault. He kept them in the game last night against Miami, his 20 point third quarter was off of the hook.

With all of this being said, Isaiah may not start forever, but he has carved out a role as a scoring PG who gives other teams fits. It is absolutely beyond me that he went last in this draft. The Lakers get killed by people like Isaiah CONSTANTLY, yet they use 4 second round picks and he slips past them. Clearly not every team could use Isaiah as much as Sacramento, but I bet a few teams are talking about the steal this kid is.

What strikes me more about this post is the complete lack of faith the organization has in Jimmer. It’s frustrating, I know he hasn’t played that well, but they invested such a high pick in him, you’d at least like to see him get some burn. Kings aren’t making the playoffs this year, so if Jim is in their future plans he should be getting experience now. If he’s not, trade him while he still has some value.

As for Thomas, it was clear he could play in college, he’s an NBA athlete, and alot of people had him as a sleeper pick. He’s looked really good so far.

 I really hope he can stay playing PG because he is lifting the team up with his own play and thats exactly what you want. I think Jimmer’s best role he can play in the league as a best case scenario would be a combination of JR Smith and Ben Gordon. Both SG’s who can fill it up but typically come off the bench to add a scoring punch. Nothing wrong with that. But Jimmer is too small to be a SG and can’t defend them well enough but too ball dominant and has too much of a scorer’s mentality to be a true PG that would help teams win. He was drafted what, 7th overall in a weak draft? If you can use him to be a good player off the bench I’d be perfectly fine with that. I mean there are some very notable players that were drafted even higher that are the 6th man for their teams, for example James Harden and OJ Mayo. Both guys could start on their teams but their teams are better when they come off the bench. As soon as Jimmer realizes his role, I think he’ll fit in nicely with the Kings.
