For the Boston fans at this site, I want to hear your opinions on what I feel is a good, but tough dilemma to have. Boston of course has the 3rd pick (amongst other assets ) and with that 3rd pick there are potential many good options.

For myself, I really do love the potential of Bender. Thinking of Pozingus 2.0, but also like he idea of Okafor for our 3rd (as I see this as a real possibility) but lately there has been the rise/hype build up of Marquese Chriss. I must admit, I am really starting to like the idea if MC. Not sure if I love it more than the other 2. But I have been watching as much film as I can on him and do think he may be a real sleeper.

Then there is always using the 3rd pick (plus other assets) to go after Jimmy Butler. I wouldn’t want to use this option unless it is a part of the lure to get KD to sign with us.

Currently I am so unsure of what to do. What are your opinions on these options?

With all your assets, I would try to pry a guy like Jimmy Butler away, who will give the C’s a star they crave. But drafting Bender or Chriss, who is really rising, isn’t a bad alternative. Who knows? Maybe the Lakers draft Bender and you’ll be able to take Ingram, too. You guys are really sitting pretty in the draft. Danny Ainge is an evil genius.

I would be leery of Okafor, though. To me, he’s Al Jefferson 2.0 – a talented scoring big who rebounds, but is a black hole offensively and is a poor defender. His presence would hurt the ball movement that makes Brad Stevens’ offense click.

I like Bender a lot, but I might like Murray even more. I think Murray is a legit scoring point guard who would work really well in CBS offense.

 Trading for Okafor is their best case scenario. They need a center. They have so many young guards, it’s silly: Rozier, Hunter, Young, Smart (plus IT2 & Bradley). So, Murray and Hield don’t make s ton of sense. SF has one of their best guys: Crowder (so Jaylen Brown might be out, though I’d like to see him 3rd). PF is their most crowded position: Amir Johnson, and really, Olynyk and Sullinger are PF’s (plus Jordan Mickey, whom they like). I think Bender is a PF. Tyler Zeller is their only true center and no true centers at the top of the draft. So, while common wisdom is usually best player available, if they can grab Okafor 1) he’s better than the best player available 2) he fills the spot they need most 3) the Celtics have a ton more prospects and assets they can part with. I would be all on board for a potential Jimmy Butler trade, but not an Okafor trade. He’s a pretty good player but I don’t think he’d be a good fit on the Celtics. 2. Love is forced to either try play the 5 where he just will get absused defensively or play stretch 4 which hurts his rebounding numbers, as he is a technique and box out rebounder instead of a athletisicm/crash the borads rebounder.

3. While everyone assumes Kevin Love is a really good 3pt shooter cause he’s white and put up huge numbers in Minnesota, He actually only shot above 38% from 3 once in his career and on the cavs has shot 36.7% and 36% from 3 these past 2 seasons. He’s not the sharp shooter people think he is. 

This is why I would absolutely try and pursue Love if I was the Celtics. Getting traded would light a fire under his ass too.

 I’m a bit scared for the rest of the East if the Celtics acquired Jahlil Okafor. Brad Stevens would probably mold him into the next Tim Duncan leaving the 76ers organization forever embarrassed that they gave him up for a pick that never comes close to the same level as Okafor on the Celtics.
