    1. The Big 12 will have no Final 4 teams.

    2. Although K-State was voted the #1 team in the Big 12, look for Mizzou to win the regular season title and Kansas to win the Big 12 Title game over Kansas State.

    3. Josh Selby of Kansas will be Freshman of the Year, Ricardo Ratcliffe of Mizzou will be Newcomer of the Year, Jacob Pullen of Kansas State will be Player of the Year, Curtis Kelly of Kansas State will be Defensive Player of the Year, Christian Standhardinger of Nebraska will be Most Improved, and Mike Anderson of Mizzou will be Coach of the Year.

    4. Pat Knight will be the only coach that won’t be retained by his school at the end of the season. (I would include Doc Sadler of Nebraska, but they are switching to the Big 10 after the season.)

    5. Iowa State will be the worst team in the league in Fred Hoiberg’s 1st year, but they also will have a (projected by me) All-Big 12 PG at the helm (Diante Garrett).

    6. Keiton Page of Oklahoma State will shoot the highest 3-point % of anyone in the Big 12 who attempts enough shots to be the leader (minimum of 100 attempts).

    7. Cory Higgins will pace the Big 12 in scoring next year, John Roberson of Texas Tech and Diante Garrett of Iowa State will be the leading assistmen in the conference, Marshall Moses of Oklahoma State will be the leading rebounder, Curtis Kelly of Kansas State the leading shot-blocker, and Jacob Pullen of Kansas State will be the top ball-theif.

    8. While Kim English was the top scorer for Mizzou last year at 14 ppg, I think the addition of Ricardo Ratcliffe will make English a 2nd option scorer, probably were he is most effective given his entertaining yet unpolished and inefficient scoring ability.

I’m interested at Iowa State, how do you think they will do long term? People might not know, this is a team who’s bringing in Royce White and Chris Allen next season.

Do you think they could fight for a NCAA bid going down the line? How’s thier recruiting class this year?

I don’t think they’ll be great in the long term either. Chris Allen will be serviceable for them next year no doubt given his experience and practicing with the team this season, but he’ll only be there for 1 season, so he’ll only add so much for them in that 1 year. Also, the fact that he’ll be leaned on for a chunk of the scoring is troubling, since he’s not the kind of player that needs to take significant shots in all honesty.

Royce White will have an impact for them next year too working against the real team in practice, but not enough for them to be very good.

I think it’s going to take time for Hoiberg to get that program good. I have seen him coach either to see if he can get them to overachieve either, so I’m just as interested to see how they perform as you are.

Thats a bold statement to say the Big 12 wont have any teams in the Final 4..

When teams like K-State, Kansas and Baylor have great coaches and rosters loaded with seasoned and talented players…All 3 of those teams could be in the top 10 by season’s end…There’s a strong chance 1 of them might make it…

I can see Both Baylor and kstate making it to the final four or Kansas.  But just like the rest of us I have no clue if they will make it or not

How is Josh Selby going to freshman of the year when you have Perry Jones as well? Jones is so much better. There is no way Jones does not get it. People have to realize how good he is and how much better he is than Selby. I don’t watch college basketball that much except for March Madness, but even I know that Jones should and will be freshman of the year for the Big 12 over Josh Selby.

I think if Selby plays, he has a much better shot at being FOY. It’s stupid to assume that just because someone is a better NBA prospect that he’s a better college player. Jones’s game is much more raw than Selby’s.

Marvin Williams and J.J. Redick played college basketball at the same time. Was Williams a better NCAA player because he was a better NBA prospect?

Because jones is raw. did you watch him in hs dwill?..have did you see how lost he looked in his first game?  turning it over , bad shots, bad defense considering how athletic he is?

^Right, there’s no doubt that Jones is a better prospect and has more potential, but Selby is skilled enough to start putting up big numbers right now. Assuming that he’s eligible of course.

Actually looking back Reddick was probably a better prospect.

I doubt Baylor makes the Final 4. They lost key players in Carter and Udoh, and replaced them with Stargell Love and a raw talent in Perry Jones. This year’s squad isn’t better than last years team, and last year’s team made it to the Elite 8. Also, there has been no set time for LaceDarius Dunn to return.

As a fan of K-State I’d be happy if they made it, but I don’t think this years team will make it to the Final 4 because they don’t have the floor general to play at the tempo they played at last year with Clemente. Clemente took a bunch of bad shots, but he also set guys up and wasn’t TO prone AT ALL, especially for the speed he played at. His loss hurts more than people thinks it will, but more so in the long term. I see us as a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 team.

Kansas doesn’t have a Final 4 team I don’t think. Tyshawn Taylor, Selby and Marcus Morris and all those guys are good, but I doubt they make a Final 4 run this year with them. I think they’ll also be a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 team.

dwilljazz? How can you accurately predict an incoming freshman’s impact on the college game with as much certainty that you do if you don’t watch college basketball and know what style they play and if you don’t know college basketball how do you know how good KU or Baylor is other than looking at stat cards.  Thats called cyclo scouting and we all know how accurate that is.
