Is it possible for teams like Houston and Memphis to sneak into the west playoffs as 7th/8th seeds?

Despite Utah losing Boozer/Korver, I know they’re going to be extremely competitive. My gut feeling tells me that Millsap cannot compensate for the loss of Boozer… Are they good enough to continue making the playoffs? Yes, but I don’t believe they are locks in 10-11 playoffs.

Another thing, Phoenix losing Amare and replacing him with Warrick? Listen, Warrick is good, but no way can he make up for Amare.

Houston is young, healthy, and loaded with talent…Plus, Yao will be back…. Memphis is young, healthy and has talented players at each postion. Rudy Gay is due for a breakout year(overpaid contract), and I think Conely has finally put his game face on.

I honestly believe Houston can get into the playoffs no problem in10-11, but I think Memphis will be battling their way in, should they make it.

Out of all the teams you mentioned…Houston is the most dangerous IMO. They are loaded with talent and they have a good bench, plus they have scorers on a defense first team. Yao is back and he automatically demands a double team, and they got guys like Kevin Martin, Shane Battier, Aaron Brooks, Chase Budinger…all guys who can hit threes. To this day I don’t know how Budinger was not a first round pick for someone. If they can lock up Luis Scola, then I think they could be a top 5 seed.

Millsap put up retarded numbers when Boozer was out. Utah kept winning games. He also dominated in the playoffs.

When both Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer were out, Paul Millsap posted 32 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists.

Like KOC said, the Jazz are more worried about finding somebody to replace Millsap’s production off the bench. Also keep in mind, the Jazz were the 3rd youngest team in the NBA last season. Lots of room to grow.

I expect another 50+ win season.

I think the last spot will be between Houston and Phoenix, but what do I know? I thought Memphis would be terrible last season and they weren’t too bad.

much like last year, i t will be close. There are probably about 10-11 playoff caliber teams in the west and who stays healthy will have a big effect. I defenitely think houston makes it.

Houston can really suprise people of fyao comes backa nd healthy with Aaron Brooks,Kevin Martin,and Trevor Ariza thats a good team and Chase Budinger is the truth on the court.

Memphis is good but they know who option 1 is and Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph take alot of shot from Oj but they are fun to watch especially when Rudy and Oj are throwing alleys to each other.

milsap is good but lets not gett carried away. hes not boozer. doing it forawhole season while defenses set up for you is alot different. sitting here in utah reading the papers and llistening to the utah staff talk its pretty obvious that they feel the same way. everyone knows utah is better (and boozer is better) with boozer starting instead of milsap. yes the jazz are worried about off the bench but sloan also said no one can replace what boozer brought with the scoring and rebounding but they will try to replace it as a team
