nbafan519ParticipantWith the loss of thad, the sixers only remaining true veteran is Jason richardson. They are extremely young with little to no real experienced leaders at all.
How do you guys think this team will grow together in the absence of a seasoned vet? As a sixers fan I am a little concerned about the lack of a true leader in the locker room (which I think thad was) to help the young guys grow. At the same time though, maybe this squad will take on an "us against the world" attitude and really grow together.

Toronto16ParticipantSixers have made it clear they have no desire to win this season.

fastdanParticipantThe problem with some of these young teams is with no leadership they seem to create a losing culture and never get out of the cycle of lottery appearances, like Sac and Minny. Putting assets on a team together is the first step, but you have to put your young players to learn and grow in a positive environment.

abrowniiParticipantOnly time will tell.
Right now it looks like a mess, but 2-3 years we’ll be a true contender in the East, if everything falls in place.
+ Philly’s big market. So once the Sixers start winning free agents will come.
A frontline of Embiid and Noel, can be the next twin towers.
Joel can provide a strong low post presence
MCW will mature and become better offensively.
McDaniels is a defender first SG/SF so he’ll contribute right away.
Anthony Bennett will start at PF right now. But next year… Who knows?
Soooo Stanley Robinson or Kelly Oubre hopefully?
Then we can develop Embiid/Noel/Oubre or Robinson/ McDaniel/MCW.

220ParticipantWe don’t know the full details of the trade that will send Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for Anthony Bennett. Perhaps the 76ers will bring back a few veterans in the deal to alleviate the total youth 76ers scenario. If they don’t bring any vets back that way then perhaps they sign a few vets to bring in that leadership. I’d be surprised if the 76ers didn’t have at least 2-3 veterans before the season begins.

aztwulfParticipantRonny Turiaf, C, great guy and a total team player. Last year at <2M. Good shotblocker and interior defender.
JJ Barea, PG, kind of a ball hog shooter (but maybe he had to be with the 2nd unit), final year at about 4M, bad defender
Luc R. Mbah a Moute, SF, another good team player, good defender, not much of a shooter, final year at about 4M
Alexey Shved, PG-SG, big disappointment, has some skills but doesn't put it together, last year at about 4M
Shabazz Muhammed , SF, operates exclusively on the low left block, good O rebounder, scorer mentality, 3 yrs at 2M
Kevin Martin, SG, shooter, not much of a defender, seems like a good guy, 3 years at about 7M
Chase Budinger, SG-SF, another shooter, with knee issues the last 2 seasons, 2 years (I think) at about 5M
Corey Brewer, SF, scored 51 in a game last year, good guy, plays with energy, I think 2 years at 5M, decent defenderI don't think Minny would find any of these guys to be off limits in a trade.

NeggedAlterEgosAlterEgoI would love to bring Kevin martin over he could help the future wing players we draft alot but he still has value so I don’t think he would be just be a salary dump

DolanCareParticipantI’m also concerned for the 76ers. Especially for MCW who was a walking And1 mixtape by the end of the season. When a winning games is no longer fought for, bad habits are formed- that’s almost a given. The question is if they can be reversed once a new culture is instituted.

ExumInfernoParticipantIn a few years, when Noel and Embiid are the best center and power forward combo, and Saric and MCW are getting triple-doubles, and they have signed some big stars with all their salary space, nobody will remember the tanking years. That would seem to be the plan.
Noel, and now Embiid, got to watch a year of the NBA before trying it. A chance to learn. MCW, he was just thrown in the deep end, and it worked as the top rookie.
When the players get older, a coach with winning experience will be brought in on more money.
The 76ers are losing, but they keep adding future stars and high picks, and at least they are running and putting up big scores, even if the other team usually has more.
One thing that might be good to do is to bring in a cheap and old veteran center, someone who knows how to play. Like the Knicks had with Herb Williams.
