tdo1996ParticipantDoes anybody else see Michael Carter-Williams as the perfect pick for Philly at 10? Their current starting lineup is Holiday, Richardson, Turner, Young, Hawes (Bynum). Drafting Carter-Williams gives them a pure floor general and allows them to move Jrue Holiday to SG were he can be used almost more effectively than at the 1. If you disagree, what position do you think they need to find in this draft?

IknoBall12ParticipantI don’t care for him much as their starting PF. I would like to see them go elsewhere buy its hard to see who.

Sewok15ParticipantThad Young is the lifeblood of this Sixers team. He averages 15 and 8 while playing better defense than anyone else on the court. He scored 28 points on 14-20 shooting a couple days ago and didn’t have more than 2 plays ran for him. Thad Young is at the very bottom of the list of Sixers problems. He has easily been in the top half of starting power forwards this season.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI love Thad Young, but I agree not as the starting PF it just makes the team too small. But Young has easily been the MVP of the team this year and is the main reason the Sixers have more then 20 wins. His numbers are deceptive because under a different coach that actually ran plays for his most consistent offense force Young would be a 20 ppg scorer.

Sewok15ParticipantNOOOOOOOOO. He is the opposite of a perfect pick for Philly. They already have two guards in Holiday and Turner who need the ball in their hands to be successful. Holiday can be a spot up shooter but he is most effective with the ball in his hands making plays. Jrue Holiday is 4th in the NBA in assists per game so it isn’t like he is a two stuck playing one like many guys in the league.
Not only do I think MCW is going to be a bust because of his lack of anything resembling a solid outside shot but he is a terrible fit in Philly with this roster. The Sixers need a big guy who can actually control the paint (but there aren’t many of them in this draft). I am assuming they are rolling with Bynum as plan A so will be drafting a 2 or 3 who can make some outside shots. They added Richardson, Nick Young and Wright but none of them are a long term solution.
The list of players I would rather have the Sixers take over MCW is extensive. I will just add a short lists of better fits.
1. Ben McLemore- Hey maybe the Sixers get lucky and move up into the top 3? He would be an ideal fit because he is a great athlete and lights out 3 point shooter. He doesn’t need the ball to be effective and could develop a nasty backcourt with Jrue Holiday.
2. Otto Porter- He can do it all and would be a player Doug Collins would love to add to this squad. His outside shot isn’t picture perfect but you can’t argue with the results he put up from deep this year.
3. Victor Oladipo – Victor is going to help you win. He is an elite defender and has improved leaps and bounds on offense. The hype he was getting mid season was insane but he is a player I would love to see in Philly.
4. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope- He is a guy that is a bit under the radar and has yet to declare but he should be at the end of the lottery somewhere if he does. He is potentially the 2nd best SG in this draft.
5. Shabazz Muhammad – He isn’t my ideal fit but he is a scorer who can stretch the defense. Having Shabazz and Thad Young at the 3 and 4 would be interesting because they would be undersized but would put up points at the other end.
6. Glenn Robinson III- Little Big Dog is a player I like for his potential. He seemed to fit in well with the high powered Wolverines this season. He needs to refine his outside game and ball handling but his athleticism and defense will get him minutes immediately. If he can improve his offense he could be a steal.
That is only the 2’s and 3’s I would realistically prefer. If I would open it up to big guys and point guards the list of players would be immense.

Mr. 19134ParticipantWe all know Doug Collins doesn’t “love” to add anybody to a squad that is under 30 and hasn’t played for atleast 5 different teams. And Collins is out anyway. No way he returns.

TFCParticipantdepends what 76ers want to do with Evan Turner, if he stays then another ball-handler/playmaker like MCW wouldn’t make much sense.
Cody Zeller or Shabazz might be could picks for the sixers if they fall into late lottery.

fastdanParticipantAt this moment, Turner and Holiday are better PGs then MCW. They got rid of Iggy and Lou will because they believed that would be better in the future relying on the Evan and Jrue to handle the ball, I don’t see them second guessing themselves for a guy like MCW who still has a lot to prove with his scoring and shooting ability.
I think a great fit would be Oladipo. He could defend opposing PGs, giving Jrue more of a break, to prevent him from being so run down, not only down the stretch of the season, like we’ve seen, but down the stretch of the game. He’s also got a much improved jumper, and gets points playing off the ball with cuts, put backs and in transition, which is something that they need, because Turner and Holiday dominate the ball on offense.
I think one of their biggest issues was not having size down low for easy buckets, but no one in their draft range will be able to fill that hole, so it’s more likely they either resign Bynum and hope he’s healthy, or pursue Pekovic or Splitter in free agency, though both are RFA, which has proven very difficult to be successfully done.Possibly. Olynk, but he wouldn’t be that much of an improvement from Hawes, and also isn’t guerenteed to be there at #11.
Mcgary might be an option, as I can really see him shooting up the board during workouts. And MCollum as well, who can play on or off the ball and be a really good 6th man from day 1.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI have them taking Anthony Bennett if he is there. If not, McGary would be a good fit as a power forward.

Bird_YearsParticipantHaving two back court players who can’t shoot the three is spacing suicide. Even if they are giving up on Holiday as a 1 (which I doubt) they wouldn’t be able to play Turner and MCW together.
I think their pick depends on their plans with Andrew Bynum

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantWe need a big man. Bennett, Len, Mitch, Plumlee, Zeller, Dieng or Kelly O

Mark PionHi there. Like Gary Harris or Glenn Robinson III. Take care. Thanks.

Mr. 19134ParticipantMCW is like literally the one player in the lottery that the Sixers have absolutely no need for whatsoever.
Sixers need a shot blocking big man or a sweet shooting wing with there lotto pick.

rocketdan9Participantno. 76rs desperately need a big guy. This is, even if Bynum comesback.
Choices are Olynyk, Plumlee, Len. For some reason i see Collins liking a guy like Plumlee.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI doubt Collins has much of a say at all in this draft because he for one, may not even come back this year, and 2, isn’t going to get resigned regardless. Sources close to the organization have confirmed that the Sixers will not be giving Collins another contract so he is either going to step down in the off season or coach next year as a lame duck coach.
The Sixers front office loves youth, athleticism and potential in the draft. They also need a big who has a defensive presence. I see them eyeing Mitch McGary, Steve Adams, and Rudy Gobert.

mamadouParticipantMCW is hideous here.
They should gamble on GR3, and cross their fingers he pans out.0 - AuthorPosts
