The Scare Crow RisesParticipantUp 20 points with 5 minutes left as I type…
Joel has a career high 26, with 7 boards and 2 blks on 21 minutes so far, he’s getting triple teamed and giving the Suns work
BTW Nik Stauskas is looking like a reclamation project slowly turning the corner, had 21 points on 5 of 6 three point shooting, it looks like the combination of Joel plus Sergio/Dario had him looking more and more confident in his role as a spot up shooter/slasher
Saric is playing off the bench as I expected, he gives them a steady hand off the bench, with Joel and Jahlil killing teams inside for the whole game, a Stretch PF like Sova and Saric can thrive…
I’m really impressed Hollis Thompson as well, he’s shot the ball really well in limited minutes, he should start to see more time over Covington (who has been abysmally bad)
Okafor is looking a lot better than he did in the first few games, and I think he’s earning back some respect from around the league after a rough rookie season, I can still see him being traded at the deadline, but at least he’s showing he can be a good teammate, he’s definitely raising his trade value for anybody checking up on that sort of thing…
A 15 point victory and their 3rd straight Home win, we didn’t win our 3rd game until late December, regardless of what anyone says, their is clear cut improvement being made by the young 76ers, let’s see if we can keep it up…

raybeasParticipantthey are a real NBA team!
Almost.
I mean, they have some guys that could make other NBA rosters and everything!
They are still three years away from being three years away, but…good show 6ers!

EndlessknightParticipantIf this team was healthy, Noel, Simmons, Bayless, no minutes restrictions, they would easily be .500 and thus battling for the last payoff spot in the east. Don’t see how that’s “3 years away from being 3 years away”.

binetParticipantLast 6 games were decent to good, with a 3-3 record with only wins at home. They clearly are on an upward curve now than Nik Stauskas is turning into the NBA player we expected him to be on draft night…
They still have a lot to figure out but there are a lot of good things to see, and the perfectible aspects like Covington shots or the subpar game of some players off the bench like Holmes or McConnell.
Embiid obviously but also Saric look extremely good for rookies, and their rustiness tends to tell they are going to improve greatly as the season goes, Saric’s rebounding ability for example is improving very fast, he was subpar the first few games and already is solid, I think he has the potential to be a great rebounder when he starts to have a NBA body.
Nerlens returning should help a lot when Embiid is preserved, and also might be a better fit with this team than Okafor (Philly guards struggle defensively and get blown by that’s where Okafor’s help defense or lack thereof is critical… ).
Bayless impact could hurt at the beginning if he needs several games to adjust, because Sergio, Henderson and Stauskas are playing good basketball so far, but eventually he is at least a way better guard than TJ on both ends of the floor and gives versatility and consistency to this team.
With Ilyasova-Saric at the 4, I think Philly has to consider developping Simmons into a perimeter guy right now (with their excellent program at developping injured players). PG or SF? Not sure which is best but I prefer to have him alongside Saric on the court for sure.
With Covington struggling and the lottery in 2017 stacked with good PGs, plus guards on the team having better than expected success (Stauskas, Sergio, Henderson), Bayless hopefully decent and Simmons possibly a PG, I think the "logjam trade" should be for a 3. I think a veteran SF would be the right guy. Would GSW trade Iggy for Nerlens? That seem to be the right kind of trade right now.
