Mad MaxParticipantAnyone else think McCollum to the 76ers when the trade happened? Portland hadn’t picked yet btw. When the 76ers made their trade to get Noel and NO’s ’14 1st rd pick for Holiday, I automaticaly assumed Philly was targeting McCollum at #11 to be their new PG, and would’ve have been a great move. Sadly for them, Portland kinda surprisingly takes McCollum even with Lillard, and the 76ers settle for MCW, who is a bad fit along with Turner.

Sewok15ParticipantI certainly would have preferred McCollum since he is a lights out shooter but I had a feeling Portland would take him. They may or may not have taken McCollum over MCW if the Blazers would have went with Adams or another big guy. McCollum may have been too good as a rookie for them to totally tank and land a top 3 pick which seems like it is the intent of this move. They drafted a bunch of guys with high ceilings who aren’t ready and traded their only all-star.
I don’t think Turner is in the plans long term anyway so a players fit based on ET isn’t a big deal. He hasn’t proven anything to me that shows he is a guy the new ownership would want to move forward with. I really like the way they shook things up in the draft and although this next season will be brutal it would be worth it to get a stud like Wiggins.

laarethekingsParticipantI as well was thinking McCollum. Would have been perfect. Turner is a willing passer and McCollum is a shoot first PG. I think it could have worked well for both of them.
