I remember when he got drafted, saw the interview & the Bulls told him they were going to draft him. I went to bed thinking LOdom is going to be a Bull, i was hyped about that, I thought he had a great game that could be used to build a contender around, only to watch the Bulls pick EBrand instead of LOdom. DWade gave him tons of credit for helping him become a professional & teaching him how to win.(Wade’s Heat made the Playoffs as a Rookie) He is an All-Around talent that is great to have off  the bench. I think he should get this award. Jett provides the Mavericks with that MicroWave (VJohnson) type of scoring but Odom does it all for Lakers.

He is incredibly versatile and plays a vital role of importance for the Lakers. If they were to let him go in free agency after their first title, I do not think they win one last year. He would be very hard to replace, and is definitely part of the Lakers length and size being very dangerous. Also, he is having if not the best year of his career, the most efficient one.

Lamar never turned into Magic Johnson like many projected him to be out of HS, but he has become a fantastic role player. People almost counted him out as his teams early on did not have much success, especially when he was a heavily relied upon scoring option, but he has two rings now and will be a big part of the Lakers having a chance for third straight.

He is a solid rebounder, who has really improved on the offensive glass. His amazing wing span helps them out a great deal on defense, and he of course is at times the point forward that adds another dimension to the Lakers offense. His maturity as an NBA player has been refreshing to see. Few thought Lamar would be in this type of role, but even if he has yet to get the individual accolades of All-Star games or All-NBA teams, he has had a career I think most people in his draft class of 1999 would envy with his championship rings.

He’s pretty good. I personally think the award should go to Thaddeus Young though.

He must be a contender for 6th man award and after missing the AS game selection it might be felt fit to honour him. This guy had a tough upbringing and after early career suspensions has really got his head down and become a rock solid player who will do whatever role is asked of him. Hence he has had a long and successful NBA career and has earned nice contracts as his career has progressed.

I think he gets slept on because he has been pretty consistant in LA as a 6th man. Seems like with a lot of these awards that if you don’t just have some dramatic turnaround or your stats don’t skyrocket that you get overlooked. The same reason that Jerry Sloan never got a COY award.

If i remember correctly, Odom was one more positive drug test away from possibly getting kicked out of the league for good.  It’s nice to see that things have turned around for him and even though he didn’t become the player that a lot of people projected him to become, he has turned himself into a valuable player and one that has been a key part of championship teams. Not a lot of guys can say they have done the same.

Odom does deserve the award this year. The only 6th man who is even close to having his kind of impact is Jason Terry. I’d probably put Big Baby at #3 just ahead of George Hill.
