conchahockenParticipantIf Cavs still have interest in Embiid which I believe they do. Here’s why a trade down to 3 makes sense. I don’t believe Embiid will last to 5 with all the Jazz rumors floating around so if Cavs want to trade down Philly seems like the team with the assets to do it. And here’s why it makes sense for the Sixers:
There are two elite talents in Wiggins and Parker that would slide in between Noel and MCW rather nicely. Obviously, Wiggins is their guy.
They can still use Thad as a trade chip to say the Bulls at #16. So we eat Boozer’s contract, maybe Dunleavy’s, and take a pick. Bulls will now have the financial flexibility to go after Melo/Love. There’s a significant drop off after the top 8 picks so I don’t see picking at 10 vs 16 a big deal. Sixers can still target guys like James Young, PJ Hairston, or ideally Adreian Payne.
Finally, Sixers didn’t "tank" this year to draft Exum and see if a dual PG set would work. It’s hard to envision when neither is a great shooter. Sixers didn’t "tank" to draft Embiid, who now with the recent injury problems, could mean Sixers sit another big man all year. Let alone the fit with Noel offensively.
Sixers starting lineup next year:
MCW -H.Thompson -Wiggins(#1) -Payne(#16) -Noel
Thoughts? Is 3 and 10 enough for the Cavs? Maybe throw in one of the many 2nd rounders. Does a Thad to Bulls trade make sense for 16?

vulture711ParticipantI’d rather not endure Hollis Thompson as a starter again and I don’t like giving up 2 for 1 when you need assets. I’d probably draft Embiid at this point if he slips to 3 because thats the one "asset" that is going to get my phone ringing off the hook either now or when he heals up……plus I think he’s in a tier by himself as a game changer if healthy
Wiggins is nice, but he’s not Lebron

BallinmvpParticipantI totally agree with vulture, keep the picks and build a team. At 3 you still have good choices and at 10 you could get a really good player too.

mrhancocParticipantIf the sixers want to save money then yes, outside of that I see no real reason to trade two lotto picks for 1…… like the other post said, Wiggins is no Lebron

burgessfourParticipantwith vulture, the Sixers are not to the point where they can give up 2 or more assets (3&10) to get 1 asset, even if it is Wiggins. I will say if they can get pick 16 for Thad and have to eat a contract or 2 that’s a deal I would consider. The roster could look like Embiid (3), Noel, MCW, Lavine (10), Payne (16), Boozer, Dunleavy, Wroten, plus whatever they do with all those second round picks.

gbmantisParticipantHe’s not Lebron, but the Sixers don’t need Wiggins to be. By the time he hits his prime, Bron will be 35.

BallinmvpParticipantIf you trade 3 and 10 for 1 you better hope he is lebron gbmantis. Too many good players in a deep draft, I don’t think wiggins is a generational player, very good is most likely but not worthy of that type of deal

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantthe original poster is dead on. The Sixers have got to start thinking BIG.

IhateusernamesParticipantThad to the Bulls makes no sense for Chicago. They don’t want any additional salary before seeing what Carmelo does

Memphis MadnessParticipantIf this site’s mock draft is right, then the Sixers get Embiid at 3 and Zach Lavine at 10. How much more UPSIDE do they want?
Wiggins might even be there at 3. Jabari Parker could go one, and then the Bucks might decide to go with Exum at 2.
Sixers should just go with Embiid at 3, and then Lavine or Stauskas at 10 (or Doug McDermott) and just be patient.
The Sixers should use some of their second round picks to trade up, but they would probably WIN the draft if they ended up with Embiid and Lavine/Stauskas/McDermott.
They could try to trade Thad Young to a team that needs a fourth option (Thunder?). Thad Young and the 47th pick to the Thunder for Kendrick Perkins, Grant Jarrett (stretch four), and the 21st pick.
If the Sixers get Lavine at 10 to go with Embiid then they are working on a really solid core, filling the major positions of point guard (MCW, Wroten), shooting guard (Lavine, with some Wroten thrown in there too), and center (Embiid, Noel). Then they just add more guys around those players, like at 21, stretch fours like Grant Jarrett, second round picks, and then their 2015 pick.
