The NBA posted this video showing the first career FG makes of 50 players, from Ossie Schectman scoring the first basket ever to the sweet baseline jumper that started off Anthony Davis’ career. A lot of good ones and highlights, Hakeem Olajuwon’s was a process, Chris Bosh hooked an and-1 while Kevin Love got an offensive rebound off of a FT to score his first lay-up. Kobe’s was truly Kobe-esque with just how far out he was, while Patrick Ewing, David Robinson and Shaquille O’Neal finished with earth shattering dunks. Also quite incredible to think of how many baskets Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Karl Malone scored after their first. RIP Flip Saunders, am sure he would relish in seeing some of these, particularly Kevin Garnett’s first make. His memory will definitely live on.

Crazy that regardless of the era or size of the player nearly all of these were shots in the paint or barely outside of the paint

Ginobli with hair. Dirk with short hair. Curry in those ugly Warriors uni. Durant in a Sonics uni. Brad Miller playing early in the 1st quarter. Lebron not looking like an NFL linebacker. Melo with dreds. Paul Pierce looks the exact same as today. KG scores and doesn’t trash talk. Kobe’s shot was a 3. Reggie Miller’s was a lay up.
