This trade is between GS, Utah, and Por. In addition, GS receives #3 overall pick (from Utah) and Por receives #10 (from GS).

Why Utah does this: They finally get a game changing scorer to go along with their frontline of Jefferson, Favors, Millsap, and Okur.

Why GS does this: GS gets the #3 pick (GS is trying to trade up). They also get Brandon Roy who if healthy (I know probably too big of an if) can make an impact.

Why Por does this: Por can dump Roy’s contract, pick up a good PG in Harris to replace Andre Miller who does not have much time left, and they will have picks 10 and 21.

    What does everyone think?

Eh I’m not sure GS would give up Monta for a guy with horrible knees and a draft pick.

i actually like this if im portland, you get a solid PG, at 10 draft a replacement SG in Burks

works for Utah also, they could go brandon knight, and match him with monte, or could go kanter and draft a pg at 12 or make a move for a vet

gs would finally get a legit backcourt, not two pure combo guards, roy is a legit 2, and that lets curry only play the point

Can’t Golden State get anything more? One more decent player going to the Warriors would make this trade a good one. Roy is too much of a question mark. If the GS doctors think he’ll be fine it’s a great trade.

This is a good trade for Portland and Utah but not for Golden State.

It obviously hinges on Roy’s physical, and I think GS does the trade if Derrick Williams is still on the board. If Roy doesn’t check out or Williams is gone the trade does not work.

In the trade Utah would have to give up the third pick so there is no way Utah would get Knight. You’re also assuming Brandon Roy goes back to playing the way he used to which I highly doubt he will since he knees are basically shot. I never was high on Harris and don’t think he would be any better than an old Miller.

Being a Warriors fan, for a split second i was thinking that this trade is crazy, why would the Blazers give B Roy for Monta Ellis…………. Then i remembered about Roy’s knees, and realize we are getting robed in this trade. The only way I would take it is if we keep our 11, get the Jazz’s 3, and get Nicolas Batum, which probably wont happen

I think the Jazz are ready to rebuild and they will use Harris to get a good young pointguard. I dont see ellis fitting in with this new team

I like seeing the Jazz in trade ideas, but I don’t like this one. Monta Ellis doesn’t fit the Jazz culture at all. I like him, and the jazz need a 2, but no on Monta. And especially if we have to give up the #3 and Harris.

I think this is more of a trade that the Jazz would do:

It gives GS a great frontcourt with Lee and Jefferson and Ellis is able to run the team like he wants to. GS also gets the #3 pick and the Jazz get #11.

No team in their right mind is going to give anything of value up for Roy.

I could also see the Jazz working with Portland and getting them AK and Harris for Batum and picks.

The only way the warriors do this trade if they get batum and favors back if not this is a really bad trade for the warriors monta Ellis isn’t a super star but he is an all star type player if they get Roy it is a terrible trade

I agree with you. This trade makes no sense for any of the team with maybe the exception of Portland. They will be able to shed that atrocious contract of Roys but everyone else seems to suffer a little bit. I like Ellis a lot but his style of play does not work for the Jazz even a little bit.

That is a terrible trade for GS.  Jefferson and Lee would be the worst defensive frontcourt in the NBA.  They are trying to become a better defensive team, which is why they got rid of Donnie Nelson, not a worse one.  Also trading away Curry is stupid since he is better than Brandon Knight or Kemba Walker who they could get with the #3 pick.  Putting the team in the hands of Ellis would be a fun move for the fans and a terrible move in the standings.
