NorrinRaddParticipantAnticipating a great college season!!! The College Basketball Crown tournament should be an interesting addition. Plenty of loaded rosters with the way big colleges capitalize on the NILs this year throughout the country in college basketball. I’m wondering who we got to win the title?
I’ll take Houston to win it all. In theory, their talented lineup combined with coaching style I think will be too much for the rest of the teams out there… we’ll see though.
Anyways, here’s my preseason top 50 team rankings in tiers;Houston
Duke

Kentucky
BYU
Purdue
UConn

Texas Tech
Arizona
Auburn
Creighton
St. John’s

Mizzou
Texas A&MI know, I know a lot of snubs with only 50 teams…
I’m picking Cam Boozer be POY with Duke having back to back freshman in theory achieving the feat…
Anyways, any thoughts on the season??? Any rankings out there???0 - Posted on: Fri, 09/19/2025 - 8:41am #1270511

NorrinRaddParticipantI’m eager to see whatever exhibition matchups we could catch… some big ones including an OCT 24th one which should be maybe the best backcourts in the country imo in Kansas vs Louisville… Exhibition season goes on from OCT 10th to the 30th…

HitsterParticipantDo college teams look to get all their guys some minutes in friendlies/exhibition matches or is it all about getting the rotation and starting line up set?
Does extra depth make a difference in the college game beyond about 8th man as teams don’t often seem to go deep into their bench even in blow out wins or losses?
1+ - Posted on: Fri, 09/19/2025 - 10:53pm #1270527

NorrinRaddParticipantAs of now, it seems they play and get guys reps and confidence and practice playing in real time.

0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/06/2025 - 12:28am #1270587

NorrinRaddParticipantSort of off subject, but Lawrence Moten passed away… I loved his game at Syracuse… I thought the Grizzlies had a steal once they picked him… oh well, he was just aight in the NBA. NCAA great though. He was the real deal though in college. I thought his 2 way ability was going to make him stick more.
1+ - Posted on: Fri, 10/10/2025 - 7:43am #1270597

NorrinRaddParticipantBaylor eeked out a win against Grand Canyon in an exhibition game today… Michael Rataj needs to get a better feel for this team. He was a little out of place.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/15/2025 - 9:43pm #1270611

NorrinRaddParticipantlooks like the biggest opening game of the season will be Florida @ Arizona. I bet it’s a good one, although the result might be different if they scheduled this at the end of the season… Florida is said to be sharing point guard duties with Fland as the starter and Lee sharing duties. That’s a good backcourt. Backcourt of Arizona is young. I like the talent of Arizona better across the board, but Florida has the skills and experience. Florida vs Arizona frontcourts are probably a wash. Arizona to my estimation could possibly have 3 lottery picks though and the upper hand on wings.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 10/16/2025 - 6:56am #1270613

HitsterParticipantThe “experts” have the Gators as a top 3 side and Arizona at around 13th so certainly a big opening night match. I’m not sure Florida will be quite so strong as last season but have recruited well and key players at SF to C have returned. My fun thing to watch with Florida is will the big man Olivier Rioux get on court this season.
Arizona have highly touted recruits in Peat and Burries so they will be two guys to follow with one eye on next couple of drafts.
Purdue being ranked one with Edey does seem strange but they have two live contenders for player of the year in Smith and TKR as well as Loyer and Cuff who are top level college players.

NorrinRaddParticipantDamn… just watched full game highlights of Cincy/Michigan exhibition… Cincy is legit and so is the Big12…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/18/2025 - 7:03am #1270626

NorrinRaddParticipantNebraska/BYU was a close one… BYU still needs to gel as a team, but I think they’re better in the long haul even though they lost the exhibition. AJ will be legit, although it’ll take time for him to get there.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 10/18/2025 - 7:39am #1270627

NorrinRaddParticipantZona is really good this year if they play like they did today or get even better… I’m really liking them and today’s highlights rubberstamped why.

OhCanada-ParticipantKoa Pete came out and dominated the 1st half against the champs.
1+ - Posted on: Mon, 11/03/2025 - 6:59am #1270672

OhCanada-ParticipantKoa Pete is such a rare player. He’s stronger, more athletic and more talented than everyone and he plays physical. He’s gonna be a problem. 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists at halftime.
2+ - Posted on: Mon, 11/03/2025 - 7:07am #1270673

OhCanada-ParticipantAcuff has 20 points at halftime in his debut.
1+ - Posted on: Mon, 11/03/2025 - 7:30am #1270674

NorrinRaddParticipantYeah, that Zona Florida game is fantastic so far
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/03/2025 - 9:53pm #1270675

NorrinRaddParticipantZona has a well rounded team. Peat is obviously the go to guy, but they are stacked! I’m glad they topped Florida…
Is it crazy to have 4 of the 5 1st Team All-Americans freshmen??? I think this could be the year… right now if I have to guess, it’s;Labaron Philon/Darryn Peterson/AJ Dybantsa/Koa Peat/Cam Boozer…
my 2nd team All-American would look something like this;
Bennett Stirtz/Milos Uzan/Miles Byrd/Thomas Haugh/JoJo Tugler
3rd team I’ll round out this;
Braden Smith/Christian Anderson/Richie Saunders/Yaxel Lendeborg/Jayden Quaintance
1+ - Posted on: Tue, 11/04/2025 - 12:32am #1270678

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantIt wasn’t the most interesting of opening nights. New Orleans with new President of Basketball Operations/Assistant Coach Master P knocked off TCU. Bethune Cookman couldn’t hold off Auburn, and lost in OT. Most of the games, however, were duds. At one point in its game, Louisville was up 76-17 against SC State. It seems as though the more experienced European debutants started strong. FAU junior-standing 22-year old Belgian Xander Pintelon started and played 36 minutes giving 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 steals. Texas A&M’s 22-year old junior-standing Ruben Dominguez led them with 18 points in 19 minutes. Mississippi’s new senior-standing 22-year old Ilias Kamardine started and gave 13 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Illinois’s 19-year old David Mirkovic gave them 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists. Washington’s Hannes Steinbach led them with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Virginia’s Thijs De Ridder had 21 points and 10 rebounds. His frontcourt mate Johann Grünloh added 12 points and 7 rebounds with 3 blocked shots. Va Tech’s Niko Avdalas didn’t shoot it well, but had 8 points and 9 assists. Louisville’s Sananda Fru had 9 points and 8 rebounds with 2 blocks. It is worth following as the year progresses how well these older guys with legitimate pro minutes fare.
Not to let the Europeans be the only olds around, Green Bay started a 29-year old Navy veteran Ramel Bethea against Kansas.

NorrinRaddParticipantI have a feeling Duke beats Texas by about 20 tonight…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 11/04/2025 - 9:00am #1270682

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantOooh, those Duke returnees do not seem like they made a leap in the offseason. I’m sure Cam Boozer will settle in and have a nice second half to pull this one out, but that was an NIT-level first half between those two teams. Having one guy on each team who can shoot is not going to work. I expect early college games to be sloppy and disorganized, but that was a half fit for MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
1+- Posted on: Tue, 11/04/2025 - 10:36am #1270683

NorrinRaddParticipantEvans looked better… Duke’s promising. They didn’t win by 20 points, but they also played a terrible first half. Vokietaitis also gave Cam some problems, but overall Duke has a lot going for them going forward.

- Posted on: Fri, 11/07/2025 - 8:17am #1270686

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantMelvin Council Jr might be this season’s AJ Storr. He doesn’t fit with a team built around Peterson. It is a Kansas team where too many of its core players need the ball and are not off-ball shooters. It is a shame. Council was really good last year, and could have been really good in a lot of places.
1+ - Posted on: Fri, 11/07/2025 - 9:21am #1270687

NorrinRaddParticipantagree, on the flip side… Caleb Wilson looks like a solid prospect and Veesaar looked really good.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/07/2025 - 11:05am #1270688

OhCanada-ParticipantDamn I’m missing all the games. This is so sad. Im gonna have to quit my job. This is the best ciollege basketballs been ever. Is there some sort of streaming service for college basketball where I can replay the games hours after they are done like League Pass?
1+ - Posted on: Fri, 11/07/2025 - 5:31pm #1270689

NorrinRaddParticipantbest way is to find a back channel on Youtube if you don’t have the stream.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 11/07/2025 - 6:21pm #1270690

NorrinRaddParticipantAlabama/St. John’s should be a good way to start off today…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 11/12/2025 - 1:05am #1270701

NorrinRaddParticipantlast night was some great games… Texas Tech/Illinois I watched a replay of. Illinois is well balanced. Toppin produced… didn’t show me anything new. Christian Anderson had a decent game, but not his best. The Kentucky/Louisville was a fun game. Mikel Brown, Jr. finally had the performance in college I wanted to see. I was a little surprised Gonzaga handled Creighton the way they did…
0 - Posted on: Wed, 11/12/2025 - 4:44am #1270703

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantFor all that has changed in college basketball, home court advantage remains.
Louisville smacked its first two opponents, so it wasn’t a “finally” situation in my eyes, but the fact that Brown and Fru came through as well as they did against Kentucky is sign that Louisville can hit a Final Four/title contending ceiling.
Illinois having two freshmen in David Mirkovic and Keaton Wagler come through right away is a huge boost for them, and Kylan Boswell has been fantastic. Can he remain a solid threat from three? Will Wagler? If so, they have a chance to compete for the top of the Big Ten.
1+- Posted on: Wed, 11/12/2025 - 5:25am #1270704

NorrinRaddParticipantYeah, I guess that finally was really a response of doing something against a proven opponent… They just looked way better since the Kansas game I watched I think during exhibition. They didn’t look like a team. Louisville is figuring it out and I agree with the ceiling.
Stojakovic and Zvonimir did pretty good too in that Illinois game. I like them best in the Big Ten and have since before the season started. Purdue’s good, but a little overrated to me…
How about the ACC in general though? UNC looks good so far. They will be missing Trimble for a minute, no big deal though… Duke looks like they’re just figuring out how to play together with all the talent they have… And Louisville is solid and getting better too. Not sure how good Virginia Tech does, but at the very least Neo Avdalas is hoopin’. Wake Forest apparently gave Michigan a run for their money last night and Virginia has talent. Not a bad conference, improved from a year ago for sure…

0 - Posted on: Wed, 11/12/2025 - 8:31pm #1270707

NorrinRaddParticipantPurdue @ Alabama should be a good test for both teams. Purdue was by the main stream considered the top team in the Big Ten pre season and also in some eyes the best team in the country. Braden Smith was the choice for the most likely POY guy. Those weren’t my pre season choices, but the view of the main stream… Now they go against Labaron Philon and Alabama in Tuscaloosa… So far Philon has looked the part of the better player between him and Braden Smith, but Smith is crafty and has more weapons on his team. Alabama already did beat St. John’s who is well coached and talented at least. Not sure how good St. John’s is exactly yet but I think they have a chance at making the tournament later. Alabama is favored and I’m guessing they win… but I wouldn’t bet on it…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 11/13/2025 - 8:19pm #1270712

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantAlabama just has no interest in doing anything but play three-point roulette. It will get them some good wins, but they will not win six tournament games in a row thinking Taylor Bol Bowen and Aden Holloway will never go cold. It wasn’t like Purdue played well, but they got offensive rebounds and made free throws from being in the bonus for 11+ minutes in the second half. Simple game, and on the road no less.
0- Posted on: Thu, 11/13/2025 - 11:16pm #1270720

NorrinRaddParticipantPurdue is just a bigger team with more weapons imo… and Labaron Philon having that bad shooting performance didn’t help. Holloway and Bowen shined some. I’m not sold on either team. I think Alabama might be just in as a tournament team and Purdue is still overrated at this point. Not a 1 seed. Zona/UCLA could be interesting tonight.

OhCanada-ParticipantWhat are some of the head to head matchups you guys are excited to see this year? The clear one everyone wanted to see before the season started was Dybansta vs Peterson since the two are in the Big 12 but for me its gotta be Caleb Wilson vs. Cam Boozer UNC/Duke clash. Caleb already called him out more or less. Its gonna be an intense game. Unfortunately that game wont be played until February 7th.
1+- Posted on: Tue, 11/18/2025 - 2:55am #1270733

NorrinRaddParticipantLooks like Peterson should be fine to go against Duke and Boozer tonight.
1+- Posted on: Tue, 11/18/2025 - 3:04am #1270734

NorrinRaddParticipantnevermind, now I’m hearing he’s out… Stupid Peterson shouldn’t be on anyone’s number one since all he does is dodge good prospects.
1+- Posted on: Wed, 11/19/2025 - 6:11pm #1270746

OhCanada-ParticipantThats a pretty bold accusation. What evidence do we have of Peterson dodging these matchups. Very interesting.
I gotta say I’m not too sure what to think of this class yet and Peterson is a part of that mystey for me as well. The two players I’m completely sold on right now are Dybansta and Wilson. Dybansta just has elite athletisism accross the board. His quick twitch movement is so good for 6’10, its everything like his first step and elevation he gets on his jumpshots. And Wiilson reminds me of a modern KG. He’s gonna be another Scottie Barnes, Evan Mobley elite 2 way player that this era seems to be producing. Its still all up in the air for me.
1+- Posted on: Wed, 11/19/2025 - 7:42pm #1270747

NorrinRaddParticipantOk, he might not be dodging… but his timing to miss games that are meaningful are very ironic – to the point it pissed me off that night… if Cam Boozer was on my schedule and I’m the #1 prospect, I’m circling the game and trying all to play in it.
1+- Posted on: Thu, 11/20/2025 - 10:53am #1270755

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree. I like the players that clearly want to compete at all times. I would only draft players with that competitive edge because oncve you go pro theres alot of outside influences that can take that away from you and you not competitive before the pro level its pretty hard to pick that up especially with the lack of positive veteren leadership on most teams nowadays. Especially most lottery teams. Thats why the 25 draft class is so good, all those guys seem to have a chip on their shoulder.
The jury’s still out on Peterson imo. But man hes just got the whole package for a guard. I wanted to wait before saying this but I can’t help but be reminded of Mike Conley when I watch him. I mean he’s about half a foot taller than Conley though but I just feel like from the very little I’ve seen of him there is a chance he settles into a game manager role as oppose to the superstar, takeover every game prospect everyone including myself expects him to be. We’ll see though its still so early to make those aassumptions.
Right now I’ve got 1. Dybansta, 2. Wilson, 3. Peterson, 4. Boozer, 5. Brown and I’m pretty firm with Dybansta and Wilson as 1 and 2. There gonna have to really struglle for me to move them or Peterson gonna have to show out.
1+- Posted on: Thu, 11/20/2025 - 7:42pm #1270756

NorrinRaddParticipantYeah, I’m getting the feeling he’s Dwyane Wade with a jumper and the injury proneness that comes with him…
My top guys are kind of up in the air right now… Every prospect you mentioned though should be considered in the top 5 for sure.0
- Posted on: Fri, 11/14/2025 - 9:43pm #1270723

NorrinRaddParticipantI haven’t looked that far ahead… usually just look within a week or 2…
A great non conference game I’m excited about today is UConn vs BYU.
Another UConn test next is at home against Zona. I like Zona’s talent more, but UConn has experience…
The game to watch the end of the month is Arkansas/Duke on the 27th…
I really hope we get to see a tournament matchup between Duke and Zona.1+ - Posted on: Sat, 11/15/2025 - 1:33am #1270724

2+ - Posted on: Sat, 11/15/2025 - 11:18am #1270725

NorrinRaddParticipantThat BYU/UConn game had a fire ending… AJ looks like the real deal, especially the 2nd half.
2+ - Posted on: Wed, 11/19/2025 - 7:43pm #1270748

1+ - Posted on: Sat, 12/13/2025 - 3:43pm #1270869

OhCanada-ParticipantWhats everyones thought on Braydon Burries. I see hhe had a big game against Labaron Philon today. I watched some Arizona this year mostly for Koa Peat but as of late Burries has looked like the better prospect.
1+ - Posted on: Sat, 12/13/2025 - 6:57pm #1270870

NorrinRaddParticipantI’ve actually seen a few Zona games this year… I like Burries, last night was his best game though so far. Zona is the top ranked team for a reason though. Burries is underrated.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 12/19/2025 - 1:44am #1270879

NorrinRaddParticipantA great game in particular I will make a point to see in the Saturday slate of games is the Houston vs Arkansas game. Houston is always tough, but Arkansas is very talented this year. It’s on a neutral floor, we’ll see… Every matchup in the game should be fun to watch… I’m eager to see the guard matchups in this one.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 12/20/2025 - 3:44am #1270884

OhCanada-ParticipantTrevon Brazile has been playing some great ball this year for the Razorbacks and has emerged as a deep sleeper and one of this years top Seniors. He’s 6’9 with a 7’4 wingspan and has shot the ball very well on decent volume 55% FG and 47% 3PT on 3.5 Attempts per game. It will be interesting to see if his effeciency continues through the tough SEC conference play. Anybody in the NBA ould use that kind of combination of shooting and length.
1+ - Posted on: Sat, 12/20/2025 - 4:39am #1270885

OhCanada-ParticipantCaleb Wilson with the game winning block against Ohio St. in Atlanta. UNC was up by double digits in the 2nd until Ohio St. came back and took the lead in the last minute. UNC cut the lead to 1 with 33 seconds left on the clock then forced a turnover and Henri Vesaar took the lead on a dunk in the lane. Mobley then missed the go ahead three, Ohio St got the offensive rebound and Caleb blocked the putback attempt.
Hes just so intense and productive despite being so raw. When I watch him play theres so much he can improve and these things will make him a much better player despite already being great.
1+ - Posted on: Sat, 12/20/2025 - 8:00am #1270886

NorrinRaddParticipantHouston gave it to Arkansas right out the gate… before you know it Arkansas was putting up a fight way too late. Kingston Flemings has an impressive basketball IQ.
1+- Posted on: Sun, 12/21/2025 - 11:01pm #1270891

OhCanada-ParticipantYeah I watched most of that game. I saw the entire first half. Houston tends to really put it on teams and then put thier foot of the gas. Tugler and Flemings had like 6 steals in the first 10 minutes. Billy Richmobd had a very good game. He’s the one that really cranked up the intensity for Arkansas and helped them back in that game. NBA teams are gonna like what he can do defensively, if his shot keeps falling he should be a legit prospect.
And yeah Flemings is outstanding. Cant really ask for more from your lead guard. His confidence is off the dharts.

OhCanada-ParticipantAJ Dybansta is starting to seperate himself from the pack with his last 2 games. The competition wasnt the greatest but first he had 36 points on 12 shots and then he had 35 points on 13 shots with a triple double. Hes also averaging 3 steals a game in his past 4 games. He’s my clear cut #1 prospect.

OhCanada-Participant2023 Draft 31st pick James Nnaji committed to Baylor and will play the rest of the season there in 2026. He’s gonna have 4 years of eligibility. His rights are currently owned by the Knicks. Im not sure whats going on these days but I dont mind. College basketball is basically a professional league now.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 12/24/2025 - 11:55pm #1270917

NorrinRaddParticipantkind of like that in a weird way too, but wow… a little confused.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/25/2025 - 8:23pm #1270920

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantOn the most basic level, James Nnaji is no less qualified to play college basketball than Thijs de Ridder. Nnaji is a half-year younger. Last year, de Ridder was starting in games against Serge Ibaka, Jabari Parker, and Markus Howard. Nnaji has never really been able to find a level where he can progress as a player. He has a great physical makeup, which is why he got drafted. The act of being drafted might fit the technical definition of him being a pro due to how college basketball set its rules, though it isn’t for baseball or hockey, but is not a “pro” in terms of where he is at as a player or having gotten NBA-esque paychecks. It is similar to Thierry Darlan. He has the physical ability to become an NBA player, which is the limiting factor for most college basketball players. Nnaji being 7’0″ and having a 7’7″ wingspan means either the Knicks or some other team will have interest in him 3-4 years from now if he improves as a player. That doesn’t mean he is going to walk into Baylor and stand out in the same way it has been for Darlan at Santa Clara. Some of these guys who enter the draft young or went the G-League route and struggled are no more above college basketball from an ability stand point than an A-ball baseball player would be on a college baseball team.
Now, this is a radical shift. Eric Dixon and AJ Hoggard were suspended a game way back in the 2024-25 season for participating in the Portsmouth Invitational the previous spring. Nnaji was drafted and played in the summer league, and now that means there is no suspension for participating in non-sanctioned games. For many years, guys have made career-altering moves to enter the NBA draft when teams weren’t all that interested, only for them to find out after the fact. It doesn’t offend me as someone who likes both the college and pro games if a gut punch reality check doesn’t prevent them from playing college basketball. I do think, however, this decision kills that draft deadline where players have to choose to stay in the draft or go (back) to college. That could actually be the biggest part of this story. The NBA Draft might end up resembling the MLB draft where everyone who is age-eligible is in the draft, and simply go play college if they don’t like where they go. For the players, I think that is for the best. In this world, guys like RJ Luis, Mark Armstrong, and Judah Mintz can see whether the NBA actually want them or not, and then decide whether they think it is time for them to play pro ball or not. For NBA scouts and certainly college basketball coaches, they will find this world to be maddening.

NorrinRaddParticipantFlorida has a more talented team than Vanderbilt, but either team could pull this off imo. Tyler Tanner has been very impressive… Damn small guards… never know what to do with them unless it’s so over the top good like a Trae Young or something was… Tanner is looking solid though for sure! And to think how much higher everyone was on Boogie Fland than Tanner this time last year… incredible turnaround year here for Tanner. He’s got some burners.

NorrinRaddParticipantThe last Saturday slate of games was full of some ridiculous performances… Tonight there’s a big time Arizona @ BYU matchup!!! Should be a great watch.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantI think you got the time wrong. It is 4:30 ET, 3:30 Kansas time.

OhCanada-ParticipantPeterson dominant so far. Hard to win in Kansas. Jayhawks clearly trying to keep the ball out of Dybansta’s hands. BYU didnt seem ready for that. They need to find ways to get him looks off the ball maybe some curl screens or pin down screens to get his 10 foot jumper off.

NorrinRaddParticipantRichie Saunders had a game… Peterson is just so smooth, I believe he will have a big impact in the league… maybe Wade like but remixed. Dybantsa just wasn’t functioning on all cylinders though in this one.

NorrinRaddParticipantI got Zona to win it… filled out 2 brackets and have Zona winning in both. We’ll see. Anybody else have any winners?
