I said in one of most recent post that I will not do many mock drafts during the regular season, just big boards. This will most likely going to be my only mock pre-lottery. It will only change if a big time player is traded or a major injury. These are my season projections as well. Comment to question why I have so and so team so low or high,

1.) Pheonix Suns – Markelle Fultz; I believe the Suns will be bad this year, even though they have big names this year and a solid group of veterans. It will not be enough even with a solid season in Devin Booker. Even though they have Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, they will need to go best player available and a player that can grow with Devin Booker. I believe Fultz can have a Derrick Rose type of effect to the NBA.

2.) Philadelphia 76ers – Josh Jackson; The 76ers probably want more floor spacers, but by going by their draft last year, they are going the best prospect available route. Josh Jackson is the clear cut choise here. They probably will not need a ball dominate point guard with Josh Jackson and Ben Simmons being able to bring the ball up court. Josh Jackson fits their offense perfectly with his athleticism and cutting ability.

3.) Boston Celtics (Brooklyn Pick) – Lauri Markannen; Celtics fans probably won’t like this pick because it’s not sexy. Harry Giles health cannot be trusted and they probably don’t want to draft a wing again (Jayson Tatum?). Markannen is the best pick possible. Can fit will in the Boston system.

4.) New Orleans Pelicans – Lonzo Ball; I don’t believe the Pelicans will be any good this year. Jrue Holiday will be out for the begining of this year (prayers to his wife), they don’t have wing depth, and questionable options at the center position. It’s probably time to move on from the Jrue Holiday/Tyreke Evans era and go with point guard Lonzo Ball. He fits with what Alvin Gentry wants to do with the offense and will be great fit with Anthony Davis and Buddy Hield.

5.) Philadelphia 76ers (Lakers Pick) – Dennis Smith; Walking away with Josh Jackson and Dennis Smith is a big win right here. I believe the Lakers got better to not be a bottom 3 team in this league. Dennis Smith, Josh Jackson, any wing, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid is a dynamic core of players.

6.) Miami Heat – Harry Giles; I like what the Heat did this offseason with weathering the storm with the depature of Dwyane Wade and injury with Chris Bosh. They transfered this team from being a team that lacked space and slow to a team that fits Whiteside, Winlsow, and Dragic strengths. But, I looked at the other teams that they will have to beat, I couldn’t see them being a top 20 team in the league. Riley will take the gamble and take Giles.

7.) Sacromento Kings –  Frank Ntilikina ; The Kings always go with the WOW moments in the draft, Wouldn’t be shocked if the take the project,

8.) Dallas Mavericks – De’Aaron Fox; Dallas is all face recognition and no value. They have the names to be good – 5 years ago when Harrison Barnes was supposed to be the next Kobe Bryant, Bogut was the face of the Bucks, Dirk was more in his prime, and Deron Williams was a all star player. They are old and slow. They need a face of the franchise, a guy from Texas can be the savior. De’Aaron is a great prospect to change the direction of this franchise.

9.) Denver Nuggets – Jonathan Isaac; Denver have the pieces in the front court and in the back court, but they don’t have wing talent w/ potential. They have a solid backcourt with Malik Beasley, Emmanuel Mudiay, Gary Harris, Will Barton, and Jamal Murray and the have frountcourt member in Nikola Jokic. They need a go to scoring wing. Isaac can be that.

10.) Milwaukee Bucks – Malik Monk; Monk is not your prototypical lead guard, but he is the type of lead guard that I believe the Bucks need. He don’t need to be the main ball handler and passer, but he can guard the point guard position, be the secondary ball handler, shoot the ball, and bring athleticism to the team. He fit will with The Greek Freak.

11.) Orlando Magic – Ivan Rabb

12.) Washington Wizards – Jarrett Allen

13.) Chicago Bulls – Bam Adebayo

14.) Charlotte Hornets – Jayson Tatum

15.) Minnesota  Timberwolves – Tyler Lydon

16.) Oklahoma City Thunder – OG Anunobe

17.) Detroit Pistons – Edmund Sumner

18.) Portland Trailblazers – Jaron Blossomgame

19.) Indiana Pacers – Terrance Ferguson

20.) Utah Jazz – Jonathan Jeanne

21.) Atlanta Hawks – Omer Yurtseven

22.) Memphis Grizzles – Thomas Bryant

23.) New York Knicks – Jessie Govan

24.) Toronto Raptors – Bennie Boatright

25.) San Antonio Spurs – Nik Slavika

26.) Houston Rockers – Terry Larrier

27.) Brooklyn Nets (Celtics Pick) – Miles Bridges

28.) Toronto Raptors (Clippers Pick) – Grayson Allen

29.) Cleveland Cavaliers – Devante Graham

30.) Utah Jazz (Warriors Pick) – Justin Jackson

If Tatum falls that low in the Draft, no way will the Bulls pass on him.. Chicago has a hardon for Duke players.. He’d also be insurance if Butler was traded..

I see your point. But will the Bulls take 2 average to below average athletic wings in a row in the draft? Hard to see them doing that. Bam seems like a solid pick right their. My second choise would be Edmund Sumner

I said "average to below average" He’s a average athlete. I agree with that all you are saying, but I couldn’t fit him in the top 10.

Haven’t heard of Lauri Markannen.  What kind of game does he have?  I notice he’s 20th on the 2018 mock here and 13th on DX’s 2017 mock.

I was the same until this offseason but he has had quite the summer. and is making some noise.  Exceptional size and athleticism for a PF but very skilled and coordinated/fluid for a guy his size and age.  Smart player offensively and can play on and off the ball in the perimeter or the post. Plays hard and loves the game.  Was impressive playing for his Finnish junior team at home putting up monster stats. He plays for Arizona and signs point to him having a big year as a freshman. Check out his highlights.

Sounds like an interesting prospect, I’ll check out some of his film when I get a chance.  Brad Stevens does love skilled big men that can shoot and make plays.

I guarantee you Isaac Humphries stays 4 years and isn’t drafted in the first round. And I’m Australian too

Neguary, that was probably during one of my face runs. Ive been studying heel tactics and applying them to this forum. But a face turn could be just around the corner.

But ask yourself, when was the last time we saw any high grade content from yourself. Been more of a run in the D League for you lately.

This is the best-case scenario for OKC. Idk if he will live up to the hype, but OG Anunoby has been compared to Kawhi in his potential.

Nice early mock especially having linked in season predictions and needs so a plus 1 from me.  As a Suns fan I’d love top pick but hope we won’t be that bad this year.

One question with Miami would Pat Riley risk taking Harry Giles unless he was convinced he was sound. But if Giles was onboard at 6, I can accept that pick.

I’m a Lakers fan so I had to wait till I stopped crying & then re-read the Mock before I could think.

I Luv the Lauri Markkenan to Boston. I believe Markkanen is going to Fly up the board b/c unlike Porzingus 2 years ago, Markkanen is coming the States to play Div 1 college ball for Arizona & his DRaft stock will Explode!

It’s hard to believe the Celtics would pass on Harry Giles but his knee is already acting up & Markkanen but Markkanen is 7′ 230 lbs & he is a Better 3 pt shooter than Porzingus (40% vs 35%) & Markkanen has a Fantastic pick & pop game off the pick & roll….. He is also outstanding at facing up, backing off the defender w/ a pump fake & then blowing by him & attacking the rack w/ aggression. He is tailor-made for the modern NBA.

I would luv the Lakers to land Giles if we do stay in the Top 3 b/c he would be a great fit for us. I just can’t see Julius Randle playing Center in a small ball line up the way Draymond does for Golden State. But I would Luv Markkanen too.

But I’ll stick to your analysis b/c it’s your post. Another pick I luv is Johnathan Issac going to Denver. Wow! That would be an Amazing pick for the Nuggets & would pretty much lock in a Fantastic young line up. Isaac reminds many of our new Stud Rookie Ingram – I don;t think Isaac is as polished but his upside might be just as good as Ingram. Really long, athletic, can shoot, play defense – Perfect fit for Denver….

If Phoenix lands Fultz that is a Great pick for them & I agree 100% that Phoenix is going to be Very bad this year. For all Booker’s upside & there is a Lot to Luv, Booker is Not a great defender. Putting Fultz next to Booker gives Phoenix a Devastating Star back court for Years to come.

If Phila gets the #2 & #5 picks & they land Josh Jackson & then Dennis Smith falls to #5 – Good Lord & God help the rest of the League – it’s almost unfair. I don;t know how they can pay all those guys but if they do it would be alot of fun to watch. You basically have 3 guys at the offensive end the must be Doubled. Embiid might be the best 3 point shooter of the bunch but how do you score on that team w/ Josh Jackson shutting down your best player & Embiid patrolling the paint. I seriously Doubt this will happen but people around the NBA would absolutely stroke out if Hinkie’s tanking strategy led to a team THAT loaded – LOL!

I Like Lonzo Ball going to the Pelicans although Ntilikina would be a Great fit there too – but I agree they need to go PG

I like your remarks on Miami & I agree w/ them. Giles – if Healthy – would be a Monster get at #6 for the Heat – he is a Star level prospect & he will fit right next to the 7 foot Defensive specialist Center Whiteside.

I like Ntilikina going to the Kings. It might be what they need to convince Boogie to stay. He’s a pass first pg w/ outstanding size (6’5”) & Leadership.

I agree with your take on Dallas – I can’t see them doing anything this year – I like Bogut but he’s really getting up there in age. Barnes was a good signing b/c they HAD to sign someone so they could sell tickets but Barnes is not a Star player. I really like DeAaron Fox – he’s an Excellent PG prospect to build around

I like the Milwaukee pick. I’m sure they would be hoping that one of those 5 PG’s everyone is drolling over falls to them but Monk is a nice consolation prize b/c he is a Combo gaurd w/ phenominal athleticism who can score the basketball but still play some pg….

Every year some of the Hot prospects don’t reach the heights predicted & other people move up – this year will probably be no different but that’s what makes talking about Mocks so much fun

Isaiah Hartenstein will be selected in the top 30 unless there’s something going on that I don’t know about. He’s a lottery pick talent IMO.
