I know it’s early and we don’t actually know who will be on the 2016 Olympic Team, but just from watching this Team USA, I’m wondering who will be on the 2016 team. I’m sure there are some guarantees, but from the way it looks, some guys (young and vets) will have to be let down. If you could predict that team today, who would you think will make the final roster?

I’ll give some names off top of the head… I may forget some people.

    Point Guards

Chris Paul, Deron Williams, John Wall, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, Michael Carter Williams, Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry. Kyle Lowry, Eric Bledsoe

Shooting Guards: James Harden, Demar Derozan, Klay Thompson, Lance Stephenson, Bradley Beal, Dion Waiters, Gordon Hayward, Victor Oladipo,

Small Forwards: Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Paul George, Rudy Gay, Chandler Parsons, Doug McDermott, Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Khawhi Leonard

Power Forwards: Anthony Davis, Kenneth Faried, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge

Centers: DeMarcus Cousins, Andre Drummond, Mason Plumlee, Dwight Howard, Derrick Favors, Robin Lopez, Roy Hibbert, Jhalil Okafor, DeAndre Jordan, Nerleans Noel, .

Will the play of any of these younger guys such as Davis and Faried guarantee them spots for the 2016 roster over guys like Love, Griffin, and Howard, who previously sated that they would like to play with the 2016 team.

I know its a couple years away, but I’m anxious to see how that will play out, especially at the PG and Power Forward spots.

Andrew Wiggins? Although he is eligible to play for Team USA since his Dad is from North Carolina, I’m pretty sure he will choose Canada and once you rep one country’s national team, you can never rep another.

i agree..i take it as the same as when andrew said he was  happying  having the chnace to play for the twolves over the cavs..he gets to be the MAN for Canada.

i feel harrison barnes and jimmy bulter can see there way onto the team in the future

    In my opinion as of NOW the 2016 USA Team should be;

PG’S- curry, paul, westbrook (play 2 as well)

    SG’S- Harden, George

    SF’s Lebron , Leonard

    Pf’s Durant, Melo

    C A Davis, Dwight, Griffin.

Yes, I know George is a SF, but i think a starting line of

curry, george, lebron, durant, davis would be well worth covering up curry’s defense.

    On the fence just missing is;

    A) Kawhi leonard over  a PG Kyrie/ Rose/ Lillard or shooter Beal/ Thompson, as i think it would be well worth having a lock down defender (via prince, via igoudala) off the bench rather another pg, and enough shooting. Someone to lock down the other team’s best wing player or even point guard.

    B) The last big spot (for spain) going to griffin over jordan, cousins, faried, and others, more than big enough to play 5 internationally.

    I would go with:

PG: Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving

    SG: James Harden, Steph Curry

    SF: LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard

PF: Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love

    C: Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard

I decided to go with Irving over George because who knows how George is going to come back from this injury and Irving has been playing well this summer and gives them another ball handler.

I decided to go with Leonard over a shooter like Beal or Thompson because Leonard gives them that lockdown defender that they’ve always had.

Decided to go with Love as the 5th F/C since he could play both the 4 if they decide to go big or play the 5 if they decide to go small and gives them a big that can spread the floor.

It all depends on who really wants to play, which is never known until its that time.

    C: Kevin Love, Anthony Davis

PF: Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Kenneth Faried

    SF: LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard

SG: James Harden, Stephen Curry (Plays SG on this team)

PG: Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook

I’ll probably get negged for having Faried on there. But man does the FIBA style of play ever fit Faried well. With the way he’s play for Team USA so far, I’d still take him even if LeBron, KD and all of those other guys want to play. Can’t get enough of watching him, definitely deserves a chance of winning MVP of the tournament (Him or Anthony Davis) if they can beat Spain in the championship.

    On the bubble:

Derrick Rose: Will he ever be that player he was in 2011 again? Kyrie has been outplaying his ass like crazy

    Jabari Parker

    Demarcus Cousins

Andre Drummond (Somewhat in the same boat as Kevin Love on the 2010 team, see mad potential in his game)

    Jahlil Okafor

    Nerlens Noel

    Klay Thompson

Bradley Beal (Surprised he was one of the first cuts, only 21, still could definitely use his shooting)

Damian Lillard/John Wall/MCW (So many great PGs these days, not all of them can make it)

Paul George (This probably will sound messed up after the injury, but just not too sure how much his game will translate to FIBA. Wasn’t too impressed with his performance in 2013 Select Team game and had 0 points that game before getting injured.
