    Pretty loaded roster for the Americans who will be attempting to get their first Nike Hoop Summit victory since 2011 after losing to the World team both of the last two years. The World roster isn’t expected to be announced until another few months but Karl Towns and Trey Lyles seem like locks to play in the game. The biggest surprise left off of USA’s roster was Emmanuel Mudiay who has been rumored to represent the World even though he was raised in the states.

    Every player on that roster has previously represented a USA Junior National Team except for Blackmon, Oubre and Turner. However all three of those guys attended the USA Mini-Camp in October. Blackmon was cut from the 2012 U17 team and Kelly Oubre and Myles Turner weren’t highly ranked on the national scale until this year. So most of these guys have some experience playing with FIBA rules. The last two years, Team USA really lacked of having a great outside shooter so James Blackmon is going to be very important for Team USA this year.

    Guess I assumed since he had grown up in the States that he might be part of the US team, but he may indeed end up representing Congo for the World squad. Would be great for them, as he would bring excellent athleticism to the point spot, which is always a plus when playing the US. Only other guy I missed on was Kevon Looney, who seemed like a nice stretch 4 for this style of play.

    Now to endlessly wait in anticipation until they announce the actual World team! Think Towns and Lyles are locks, with Mudiay now likely being one as well if he chooses to participate. The 3 bigs for the US should be a nice rotation, as Stanley Johnson and Justise Winslow have enough length, toughness to step into the 4 if the US wants to go small.

    Really looking forward to it and glad that they once again have assembled some of the best prospects in HS basketball for the team. After having no true center last year, Okafor and Turner should leave Mike Jones pretty happy with his options. Thinking this is the year the US might get back to its winning ways, though very much look forward to seeing who they round up for the World team. Just hope it is once again as competitive as it has been the past few games.
