Dgtool2ParticipantMason Plumlee of Brooklyn was the leader in Win Shares at 4.7 with Tim Hardaway Jr. 2nd with 3.1.

SwatLakeCityParticipantMaybe the 2013 draft wasn’t as week as we thought. I mean MCW won ROY averaging 17pts, 5 asts and 5 boards. That’s reminiscent of Tyreke Evans rookie season of 20, 5, and 5. Tim Hardaway Jr was a bright spot for a low achieving Knicks team. Mason Plumlee was key part of the Nets rotation. And the Nets were a playoff team. We saw how important Steven Adams was to the Thunder in the playoffs. Trey Burke was a huge part of the Jazz’s turn around mid season from like 12 game losing streak. And then he ended up finishing 3rd in the ROY race behind MCW and Oladipo. Antetoukunpo made a strong case for a #1 pick and he was selected 15th giving the Bucks a shiny glimpse of what is to come.
In the end I think this draft was average compared to most drafts when we thought it was really weak and right there with the 2000 draft.

SwatLakeCityParticipantMeant to say weak not week, but I think you’ll forgive my misspelling.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI don’t see a HUGE difference between last year’s draft and this year’s draft.
Nerlens Noel was part of that class too.
Noel, Plumlee, Dieng, Alex Len, Zeller, Steven Adams, and Olynyk are some quality bigs.
I think Anthony Bennett is a key to this draft along with Otto Porter. If those guys are true busts, then this draft’s upside will always be limited. But, if they turn into solid players then this draft might have been underrated.
The keys to turn the 2013 draft into a really GOOD one are the continued improvement of Oladipo, MCW, Giannis, and Trey Burke. I think Tim Hardaway, Jr. could have a nice career, too.
Shabazz Muhammed is a guy I almost forgot about. He still has potential too, although his ceiling should probably be lower than it was when he was a "name" guy out of high school.

Memphis MadnessParticipantAnother thing, we were already looking ahead to the 2014 draft with Wiggins, Randle, and Parker coming out of high school, and with Marcus Smart returning to OSU for another year.
The 2013 class flew under the radar.
Let’s see where things end up.

mixtape2003ParticipantYou have to give a draft about 4 or 5 years to judge how really good it was. I believe that the reason it was considered a weak draft was the high expectations of the 2014 draft. Bennet and Porter had rough rookie seasons and Noel and C.J. McCollum missed alot of time with injuries, so the if these 4 have a better year next year than this will turn out to be a pretty good draft.

arjundhanoaParticipantReminiscent of Tyreke – is that an insult or a compliment? Clearly high usage guys on losing teams aren’t going to get too many win-shares, but sometimes it’s their play that is more of a problem than a solution. I’ve yet to see Tyreke ever develop any chemistry with a single teamate. Except on the days when he’s on track for a 3×2 and decides to pass the ball.
MCW shot around 40%. Clearly the kid has skills, but he’s gotta be a PG & lockdown defender first, and a scorer second. Plus he needs to develop a shot to help with floor spacing.
I don’t recall the last legit superstar who has ever allowed his team to lose as often as MCW did, especially in the weak@ss East.
If I was Philly I’d move him if any team is giving up the kind of value that considers him a future superstar.

arjundhanoaParticipantThis draft is going down as a failure, no 2 ways about it. Unless Giannis and Oladipo become LeBron and Wade. Burke can turn out to be a legit PG, and there are certainly a few bigs who can have servicable to quality NBA careers, but you need stars to carry a draft. And very few end up following the career path of Redd or even Larry Sanders – ie: bench warmers who suddenly become impact players.
I think Len has potential, but the guy couldn’t get any burn on the Suns last year. Unless they shake things up he’s gonna follow the normal career path of the NBA big. Frankly he reminds me somewhat of White Howard (Jonas V), basically I don’t criticize his capabilities, it’s just that there is no emphasis on getting him involved, even when he’s on the floor.
The league is almost more about opportunity than it is about talent. If they haven’t even shown flashes their rookie year, they’re almost never gonna get the opportunity to be stars.
Olynyk and Plumlee both have the makings of quality contributors though.
Still 2013 is nowhere near the 2014 class.

lalailaParticipantthere were rumours that ROY who avg around 16/6/6 could be traded just to pick other 6’6 unproven PG who isn’t even top3 in most of draft boards..
I think that says a lot about how scouts sees difference between those draft classes

cleveland31ParticipantCarter Williams shot 40% from the field and 25% from 3’s. There was over 15 rookies this year that if given as many shots as he took, would have averaged more points. very non impressive for MCW.

MattP31ParticipantWhile I agree with you about his shooting and scoring ability it’s hard to rate him off that. The Sixers were bad so he had to force some shots and didn’t play with great talent around to help him either. Because of that I’m hesitant to say he is going to be a star in the league, but his defense and play-making ability do give hope that he can be a very solid starting point. He impressed in some areas but was non-impressive in others, but he did look promising

rileymcshea3ParticipantYour an idiot. MCW won ROY averaging 16,6,6. Elfrid Payton on the other hand may never start on a NBA team. This is coming from guy who thinks Payton is being underrated.
