The players in this years McDonald’s All-American Game are going to be announced tonight at 5 pm EST, but I thought I will do what I usually do and try to predict the teams. Big time lack of star power in this years class, beyond Shabazz Muhammad, Steven Adams and Nerlens Noel not looking like too many one and done guys right now. Still there will be the usual number of high level college talent and NBA prospects, so it should be interesting.

I am actually not completely sure that Adams or Noel are even eligible for the game. Note that neither of them are on the list of nominees:

So, before you yell at me for leaving someone out, realize that I am going by this list as the key to players being able to play in the 2012 McDonald’s All-American Game. Here are my predicts, feel free to give your own before 5. Also, realize these are my PREDICTIONS OF WHO WILL MAKE THE GAME. Not my actual ballot (as I do not have one) or my rankings of the best players in the class. If anyone is interested, I would do that separately:

    East

    PG Kris Dunn, Providence

PG Tyler Lewis, North Carolina State

    SF Kyle Anderson, UCLA

    C Kaleb Tarczewski, Arizona

    PF/C DaJuan Coleman, Syracuse

    SG/SF Gary Harris, Michigan State

    SG Archie Goodwin, Kentucky

SG Rodney Purvis, North Carolina State

    SF Alex Poythress, Kentucky

    PF Amile Jefferson, Undecided

    PF/C Mitch McGary, Michigan

    SG/SF Ricardo Ledo, Providence

    West

    SG/SF Shabazz Muhammad, Undecided

    C Isaiah Austin, Baylor

    PF Anthony Bennett, Undecided

    PF Brandon Ashley, Arizona

    PF/C Grant Jerrett, Arizona

    SG Marcus Smart, Oklahoma State

    SG Rasheed Sulaimon, Duke

    C Cameron Ridley, Texas

    SF Sam Dekker, Wisconsin

    PF Perry Ellis, Kansas

    PG Marcus Paige, North Carolina

    PG Yogi Ferrell, Indiana

    Notable Snubs:

    Danuel House, Houston

    Shaq Goodwin, Memphis

    Robert Carter, Georgia Tech

    Tony Parker, Undecided

    TJ Warren, North Carolina State

    Ricardo Gathers, Baylor

I think I only missed about 4 or 5 last year. Will be interesting to see how it goes and I am sure we will have some people up in arms about one of their favorite prospects getting left off the team. You can only choose 24, though.

IIRC McGary Ledo and Tarczewski are all 5th year seniors which makes them ineligible for the game. Not sure about Ledo though but I know he and McGary both turn 20 this year so Ledo must be a 5th yr senior I guess.

I thought the same thing, but than I looked at the list of candidates which told me otherwise. McGary, Ledo and Tarczewski all appear on the list of nominees that I posted. McGary turns 20 on June 6 and I believe that Rickey Ledo is a 1992 birthday as well, but I saw them on the list and therefore think they have a chance to make the game. If you are a candidate without the ability to play, it would be pretty pointless.

I think that TJ Warren will make it but other than that the list looks good.

Just have a feeling he could get snubbed, even with him having a better year than McGary at Brewster. Could definitely see Warren making the team, but think that some big time notable players will be snubbed hardcore. The last two I had making it were Perry Ellis, who I think is a mortal lock even with him being ranked below Warren in the ESPN rankings and Sam Dekker. Dekker had a great summer, much like Warren and seems to have a strong probability of making the team. Really interested to see who makes the final cuts, but I am definitely pushing for Warren to make it over a number of players I listed.

I just hope we get to see at least one person from IU’s 2012 class. Yogi all the way!

But, it has become harder and harder for these California kids. The only guy I have actually PLAYING HS Ball in Cali is Grant Jerrett, who many appear to be high on. Gabe is more than likely another odd man out. Always like the one name tons of question marks approach, though. Makes your point and then some.
