Is it just me or does this 2012 draft class look much weaker than it did even a few weeks ago?

It seemed as if it was going to be an ubber deep draft, but now with first round talents like Drummond, McAdoo, Rivers, Ian Miller, Myck Kabongo and Quincy Miller all expected to return to school it’s starting to look pretty average.

It sure has been a bit disspointing. I also expected Sully, Jones and Barnes to dominate much more than they are right now.

On the other hand the 2013 draft class is sure getting better with the addition of Drummond, Noel, Rivers and McAdoo.

On a side note I still believe Drummond will declare for the draft this year

The power Forward from Miss State is a little to high in my opinion. And there are alot of tweeners in this draft witch really makes it hard to gadge there ablity. Still I think there is alot of sleepers in this draft and guys who can contribute right away.

Right Now the mock draft doesn’t mean anything….

we don’t know who are the players who will declare or not. So let’s not jump to conclusions like that. The drummond and rivers decisions will be the hardest to anticipate.

But one thing is clear 2013 draft could provide lot’s of promising big men : zeller, drummond, adams, noel, leonard, melo…

Drummond, and everyone else mentioned, could just as easily leave, imagine if UCONN won the tourney again thered be no chance he’d stay. Won’t know how deep a draft until May

I think this draft has always been slightly overhyped. It was billed as an "All time great draft". But when I look at the best drafts of the past decade, 2003 and 2008, I see SUPER STARS written all over them. There are few players with superstar potential in this draft. And the top pick is going to be a shotblocker who is a twig and will probably get murdered in the NBA paint, and I’m not even sure he has much of an offensive game.

Myck Kabongo needs another year, he needs to add about 10lbs, finish better at the rim, with his 18ft, 3pt shot, change of speed, defense.

Even if a lot of the freshmen stay this draft should be strong based on 4 top 5 guys coming back and more un hyped talent get more air time.  I actually most of those freshmen stay because you can see how Barnes, Sullinger, Perry Jones, Terrence Jones and others have grown from it.   They will be able to come in right away and play instead of getting a lot of bench splinters because right now there are only a few NBA teams that are rebuilding.  Minny and NJ, Philly, Indy are moving forward.  Charlotte could be rebuilding.  If Dallas rebuild, it will be with free agents not rookies.

What teams are going to get young players that are not ready now a chance to play when they have veterans trying to make it to the playoffs.

Funny, I really haven’t noticed any significant improvement from Barnes, Sullinger, or either of the Jones boys. They’d all be top 6-7 picks in last years draft. In this one some of them won’t be.

I agree. I don’t think Barnes, Sullinger or either Jones has benefitted from an extra year. They’ll just be better-rested for next season, because they aren’t in the NBA playing this compacted schedule.

The only obvious beneficiary of the extra year is Thomas Robinson.

Rivers has a strong tournament I think he will come out too. I say wait til march and after that we will know who is coming out. Guys can say I am staying then tear it up in March wich will change their decisions.

I am not a fan of top 15 guys staying. To me it hurts your stock. People look at your flaws more. Top 15 you need to come out bw4 they put in those bs rules about staying two years.

Who says that Rivers is going to return? He should, but right now scouts still think highly of him. I still think he will be a lottery pick, why not take the money and run? He may want to be a top 5 pick, but looking at the 2013 class right now, I’d say its highly unlikely that he will be top 5 pick than as well. His stock is actually likely to get worse in 2013, because of such a deep draft class. And who knows what will happen in 2014, but there is no way he is staying until his junior year. I’d say he should just declare this year when his stock is about as high as it could be, because next year it could get even worse with such a bevy of big men. (Noel, Drummond, Adams, Zeller)

I thought Ian Miller already confirmed he was returning. He’s been on no mocks that I’ve looked at yet he’s good, so I thought that was always the case.

Drummond hasn’t confirmed yet, and I hope hhe never does. I really want to see him in the NBA but it looks like he’s going the Blake Griffin, hopefully it gets the same result.

If you look at these stats you can see why McAdoo is returning (which I think will be best for him personally).

Myck Kabongo isn’t living up to his hype and his playmaking ability is horrid, saying an extra year will help him develop it.

I’m unsure of what to think of Austin Rivers, the potenial is there and now that he’s a confirmed shooting guard he doesn’t need the playmaking skills we thought he would need earlier on in th season. If he does declare I see him going into th lottery; but if he doesn’t, the development in collage will do him good.

Quincy Miller is actually having a decent season, and I wouldn’t want risk having a bad season next season if I was him.

    Anyway, just my thoughts.
