fito91ParticipantWhich players projected as second round picks do you think could end up being steals?
My two predictions are:
1. Drew Gordon
2. Scott Machado
What do you guys think?

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantI think Machado will end up going late in the first round, but if he is picked in the second he will be a big steal. Drew Gordon I also agree with, he could be a "dirty work" kind of player providing rebounding help. I like Jae Crowder in the second round as a steal. He is very underrated and I feel has a real good shot at getting drafted. Need to get a player profile for him.

Mr. 19134ParticipantApprently on this sights mock Quincy Miller will be grand larceny in the 2nd round. And Alex Young.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantAfter all the workouts are done Drew Gordon might go in the 1st round..
I heard that Will Barton wont get drafted at all, unless the Grizzlies select him in the 2nd round….Scouts dont like his game at all…

ilike.panochasParticipantI don’t believe that one bit, aggressive scorer’s like him will be sought after, especially after Marshon Brooks’ recent success.
The guy to keep an eye on is Jeff Taylor SF Vanderbilt. He is a borderline 1st rounder right now, if he slips in the 2nd round, he will be a huge steal. He reminds me alot of a young Richard Jefferson. Just a very well rounded scorer that posses great athleticism and optimum size for an NBA SF.

Mr. 19134ParticipantDam people must hate me tonight I’m getting negged on erything I said….LOL…I could care less about points but if you disagree speak up.
Anyways. I did forget about Barton…RUDEBOY you say scouts don’t like his game at all? That’s seems absurd to me because he is one of the most impressive players I’ve watched in college this year. He plays hard all game, has a relentless motor, and attacks, attacks, attacks.
I really don’t see the different between Barton and Burks. Both skinny versatile wingmen who are nice athletic slasher but don;t have much range on their shot. But Barton has a higher motor, is a better rebounder, and I also think might play better defense.
Not saying Barton is a better prospect then Burcs because I liked Burcs a lot and he helped his stock by having great against against great teams. But at the same time Barton is an efficient scorer, and I haven’t watched him play a game yet where he was out hustled.
If he drops to the 2nd round he will be a steal. But after workouts and the combine I find it hard to believe he don’t move up to the mid 1st round or late 1st. Also he likes college and might stay another year.
But nobody else thinks is crazy to have Quincy Miller in the 2nd round? He’s having a solid freshman year coming off a really bad injury, and he’s doing it not even fully healthy yet. He’s 6’9 with great handles, nice passing ability, creative scorer, a 7’4 wingspan, and is shooting over 40% from 3. If he stays in school like I think he will he goes top 5 next year. At worst top 10.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYeah an Marshon Brooks almost fell to the 2nd round despite putting up crazy combine numbers, being one of the nations best scorers last season breaking the Big East single game record in a tight game against a ranked team. And Brooks is a much better shooter.

Krypt14ParticipantI was gonna say Jeff Taylor but Messeee beat me to it. He is already an NBA level defender and his offensive game has come along a huge deal the past 12 months. I see a team like the Thunder or Spurs drafting him, they always get a steal

providencefriars1ParticipantPreseason I had Dee Bost, Drew Gordon, and Reggie Johnson. I still like where those guys stand but I’ll throw in a kind of deep sleeper I came across, Xavier Gibson of Florida St.
He’s an athletic big who can step out and hit jumpshots as well as bang under the boards. His stats arent good because Florida St likes to rotate their bigs so he cant get real starters minutes. He can also block shots and has great size for the Center or Power Forward Spots at 6’11”. I would like to see Gibson become more consistent but that will come when he plays more than 19 or 20 mpg. Look for him to have a strong PIT and good workouts to move him into the mid or late second round.

Meditated StatesParticipantTyshawn Taylor is my 2nd sleeper. Shooting has improved a lot and dishes out 5 a game.

JoeWolf1Kim English – he can guard 3 NBA positions, and he’s done a good job on college 4’s such as Perry Jones and Quincey Acy, and is a good spot up shooter. I see a future Bruce Bowen type.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantYou mean other than Bernard James?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/25/2012 - 5:43am #641134

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI got this about Barton 1st hand from a scout that works for the Magic…According to him Barton is the 4th ranked nba prospect on that team behind 1.Adonis Thomas 2.Tarek Black 3.Wesley Witherspoon …
If you look back at some previous posts that were written about Barton,i’m 1 of his biggest fans…I have family in Memphis i get to see alot of their games live & on tv,i love Barton’s aggressiveness, how he attacks the basket andgets to the free throw line..With him playing so well this year…I was wondering why he wasnt listed by some sites among 1st round picks?
They dislike his decision making, ineffectiveness in a half court set, doesnt play smart on defense, poor shot selection, thin body and they say he doesnt have a very good feel for the game…

JunkYardDogParticipantwhat about ryan kelly ?….will he get snubbed because of lack of hype ?….
I’d draft him with a second round : look at all of those tall white guys who are effective this year (in different ways) : jon leuer, chandler parsons, steve novak.
I think kelly is smart enough to be a solid role player from the bench.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantYeah,the more i see Bernard James the more i like him..I believe if he wasnt 26, some team will draft him in the 1st round..He could be a much better player,if Florida State’s guard got him the ball more and in better spots to score…
Miami might surprise everyone and get him in the 1st round, becuz they dont have anything to lose….

RUDEBOY_ParticipantThat Jeffery Taylor and Richard Jefferson comparision is spot on..
If he was a better shooter,he’ll go in the lottery, everything else is there, including being 1 of the best defenders in the nation..
This year draft is so deep, that there will be some guys that will go undrafted that will end up being nice role players…
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/25/2012 - 7:02am #641154

JoeWolf1I’d take Jeff Taylor in the 25-30 range, to be honest. He’s a big strong guy who is a capable NBA defender and he’s not as un athletic as some scouting reports I’ve read have implied. I was thrilled Chicago drafted Jimmy Butler last year, and I feel Taylor is that same type of value pick. He’s not a risky pick, but the guy has the ability to do a lot at the next level despite not having the highest stock.

cuseflynn10ParticipantIf your looking for size, Pope, Gates, Jones, Crowder and Sims out of the Big East. They all could be solid players off the bench. I’ll also throw in Darrius Johnson-Odom as a player who could also come off the bench.
If we’re looking elsewhere, I like Tyshawn Taylor, Feztus Ezeli, Dee Bost, and Draymond Green.

llperezim curious to see if reeves nelson gets drafted. He was the 5th best player in the pac last year behind DWilliams, isaiah thomas, klay thompson and nikola vucevic. ANd in one of the only games this year where he actually wasnt benched for a half or suspended completely, he played Kansas’ thomas robinson well and was out playing him for the first 30 minutes before robinson stepped up towards the end.

WizardofOzParticipantI also like Jeff Taylor as a 2nd round pick.

Chilbert arenasParticipantElias Harris from Gonzaga, was projected mid first round two years ago
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/25/2012 - 9:27am #641197

Chilbert arenasParticipantI doubt Reeves gets drafted. He not only got kicked off UCLA for character reasons but kicked off his Lithuanian team for the same thing. I thought at the start of the year he could find a way on an NBA team because of his toughness and is actually somewhat skilled but I don’t think an NBA team will take a risk on him in the draft, he has a chance through free agency to find the right fit.
