4 years later, how would teams draft in the 2007 draft if they knew what we know now? Here is mine

    1. Portland- Durant (Duh.)

    2. Sonics/Thunder- Al Horford

    3. Atlanta- Joakim Noah

    4. Memphis- Marc Gasol

    5. Boston- Jeff Green

    6. Milwakee- Michael Conley

    7. Minesota- Wilson Chandler

    8. Golden State- Nick Young

    9. Chicago-Thadeous Young

    10. Sacramento- Carl Landry

    11. Atlanta- Aaron Brooks

    12. Philadelphia- Rodney Stuckey

    13. New Orleans- Aaron Aflalo

    14. L.A. Clippers- Big Baby

I valued centers a lot more than other players, which is why Gasol tops a lot of quality player. It was hard because a lot of players regressed this year. If Aaron Brooks can regain his 2009-2010 form, than he is a top 5 on this list. I put Nick Young back a little bacause I feel his stats are hyper inflated, same for Rodney Stuckey. Carl Landry also took a step back this season after an amazing season the previous year. I judged Chandler on his New York performance, not his Denver perfornmence, and same goes for Jeff Green (his OKC performance). I did not factor in team need, just the best player and postion value. I may be missing someone, now you guys try.

Are you taking previous roster needs into account for this?

Even in hindsight because Oden could have just been in the wrong place that cause those injuries he would still go top 5.  I think if Oden has better trainers and people letting him know not to get too big he would have been at least a solid Center.  The way Roy and Oden is looking, you have to wonder if something is up with Portland trainers.

Portland for all the love and plaudits that Kevin Pritchard got as GM and the solid job that Coach MacMillan has done over the years has had some bad luck with injury. Aldridge has stayed mainly sound and Roy’s injuries only seem to that caught up with him this year but Oden for whatever reason has not been sound for maybe 5 years.

Remember that he had surgery during his college year on his hand I believe and since then has played 82 NBA games in 4 seasons. He was always a naturally big guy not like say Noah who was a similar height but very skinny. I always thought that Greg maybe pumped iron to keep himself fit whilst he was injured and yet maybe carrying the extra weight hasn’t helped him.

But Sheltwon, those two players already had lingering injury problems even before they got into the league. You may be right, in that Portland’s injury management may not be the best, but some players are just prone to injury more than others. Yao was getting hurt all the time as a teenager, and at first, he was playing every game, but those foot injuries caught up to him. Nevertheless, I seriously considered putting Oden at 13 or 14, because I stil believe 15 and 8 is attainable for him, if he can stay healthy.
