Lotto StudParticipantWe all know how the 96 class went down as the "greatest" class, but if you could have a draft do over with taking in account to how the players careers are or ended where would you have drafted them today with the same order from 96?

surveParticipantI dont think that is a good question because it really depends on the team and the need still. The player that jumps out is Kobe, but you have to realize, although Garnett had a good year, he was no where near his potential so HS players were still risky in teams eyes. So most picks made sense at that time.

Lotto StudParticipantHow is it not a good question when we get the typical 08 class re-do just about every month

highflyer0Participant^because 1996 is a long time and it’s hard to remember what kind of prospects those players were considered at the time and how each team was structured.

Lotto StudParticipantQuite sure Steve Nash would have been a Top 5 pick over Marbury versus being #15 overall.

Hell, well taking all the factors in account I said in my opening post what would your Big Board look like since this would be the better question to ask.

GottaBeTheShoesParticipantI would still take Allen Iverson number 1 in the draft. Such an amazing player to watch.

TRC1991Participanti will list the top 5 if i were to re-draft right now
1) PHI- Kobe Bryant
2) TOR- Allen Iverson
3) VAN- Steve Nash
4) MIL- Ray Allen
5) MIN- Shareef Abdur-Rahim
but that comment is based off of nothing besides career accomplishments, i didnt take into consideration team needs going into the ’96 draft

llpereztop 15 (not taking team needs into consideration at the time just top 15 careers i guess)
1-kobe bryant.
2-allen iverson.
3-steve nash
4-ray allen
5-shareef abdur rahim
6-stephon marbury
7-ben wallace
8-antoinne walker
9-peja stojakovic
10-jermaine oneal
11-marcus camby
12-zydrunas ilgauskas
13-derek fisher
14 kerry kittles
15-eric dampier
lots of guys had awesome primes but fazed out a little early. Marbury, walker, peja, oneal, and abdur rahim were all mulitple time all-stars and all nba claiber players for numerous seasons but might not have finished their careers very strong and maybe dont get the credit for how good they were that they should. Kerry kittles is another terrific guy who would have been a 15-18 ppg guy for a long time if not for injuries.

frogmanParticipantwow thats a good draft class… I think you have to put Jermaine O’neal above Shareef. I think he came like 4th in MVP voting one year and was the best player on a good playoff team. I kinda want him to retire as it is borderline painful to watch him play now but if i was getting like $23,000,000 for playing like 8 mins a night i wouldnt retire either. Not sure if Shareef ever played in a playoff game lol

aamir543ParticipantI do agree it is hard to do a redo while taking team needs into consideration,(hell, I wasn’t even born yet) but without taking team needs, injuries, and other factors into consideraion, here are the best flat out ballers at full health, and for some, motivation.
1 Kobe
2 Iverson
3 Allen
4 Nash
5 Marbury
6 Shareef
7 Antoine Walker
8 Peja
9 Jermaine Oneal
10 Ben Wallac
11.Camby
12. Kittles
13. Illugauskus
14. Fish
