Julius Randle has struggled to score and has turned it over alot, but I like his mentality on the court. He isn’t settling for jumpers despite the lack of floor spacing, he is passing the ball well, and his motor isn’t tempered at all by the lack of momentum. He isn’t the ball-stopper, perimeter obsessed player, or offense-only player his earlier detractors claimed.
He will have to develp a jump shot in the NBA, but as long as he keeps his crafty game around the rim, he should be fine in the much better spaced NBA.

Edit: And of course just after I post this he takes a bad three. Oh well, hopefully it isn’t a trend.

Kentucky just looked discombobulated in that first half. They just don’t have much flow on offense and have given up way to much dribble penetration on defense. Kentucky would be down by a lot more than 12 right now if it wasn’t for their supreme talent. This game could have really gotten out of hand if it weren’t for some timely threes and trips to the FT line.
Michigan State, on the other hand, looks excellent. Gary Harris is phenomenal and they have done a great job getting out in transition. Their defense has also been excellent, as they have done an excellent job clogging the lane and cutting off UK’s dribble-drive game, although UK pushing the tempo did get them a few good looks at the rim. If UK has any chance at all to come back in this game, they need to get out in transition even more and to stop Michigan State from doing the same.

UK has actually responded to pressure really well in this game. This game easily could have gotten away from them earlier in the game, but they made adjustments and have looked like a totally different team in the second half. This is not a game they should have been expected to win coming in, given their inexperience and the fact that Mich. St. has the most returning talent of any team in the country.
Now lets see if UK can keep it up down the stretch. Hopefully the foul situation doesn’t make the rest of this game too tough to watch.

Grew up a little bit tonight and will be a better team going forward. The fact that they made adjustments in the second half and gave themselves a chance to win this game against probably the best team in the nation with a nice balance of talent and experience to go along with it along with all those turnovers and missed freethrows says a lot about that talent this team has. I expected them to lose this game and by the looks of the interviews john calipari did too lol. Don’t mistake the this team for last years version even in this loss they showed me that they are a legit threat for the title and wont end up in the NIT.

All this game came down to was basically that Izzo is just a far superior coach. Recruiting can only take you so far, if you can’t teach your guys how to shoot free throws, or atleast take guys out of the game that can’t make them your never going to beat the better teams.

Very impressed with Randle, quick first step. The first half, he was slow to make a move and held the ball. Second half, he made his move quicker in the post and dominated. I think this kid is going to be great.

1) Randle is a monster. He will keep UK in every game as long as he does well
2) The Harrisons are WAY overrated. Aaron did next to nothing, and Andrew was not that great. He had a massive height, size, and speed advantage over his matchup, and yet took no advantage of it. I still think he can develop more over the year, but right now, I’d rather have Smart as a PG than Harrison
3) James Young is legit.
4) Gary Harris is also legit. He surprised me the most tonight. Maybe I was sleeping on him a bit, but he looks just like Brad Beal as a player. He’ll be a solid pro

2) The Harrisons are WAY overrated. Aaron did next to nothing, and Andrew was not that great. He had a massive height, size, and speed advantage over his matchup, and yet took no advantage of it. I still think he can develop more over the year, but right now, I’d rather have Smart as a PG than Harrison
3) James Young is legit.
4) Gary Harris is also legit. He surprised me the most tonight. Maybe I was sleeping on him a bit, but he looks just like Brad Beal as a player. He’ll be a solid pro
