    Irving skipping the combine is not a big deal…he knows he is going to Cleveland.   Its funny how politics can make an issue seem bigger than what it is.  Matt Stafford signed his contract BEFORE the NFL draft took place!  

    Last year every time a rep of the Wizards was interviewed last year, be it Coach, GM, whoever….the question was asked…"are you taking John Wall with the #1 pick?"  They will NEVER say "YES or NO",  knowing darn well that they will or wont.   It was rumored that Mike Dunleavy was going around and telling people that the Clips were gonna take Blake Griffin with the #1 pick the year before.  Big mystery right?  Well it was said that he received a STERN warning (yes, pun intended) about taking the suspense out of the event, as if there was any.   As we speak Irving’s contract is a mere formality.

    Actually, the explanation of why there is a lottery in the first place is so bad teams wont "tank" it to get the top pick.  It actually builds the suspense, if only briefly for who is going to end up where.  We still know who the top 2 or 3 picks will be, just not the team.

    It was so that the bad teams don’t tank.  Now it is so that Stern can decide who gets the next big superstar or to help out teams like Cleveland.  Is what it is.

     A little side note but there is no suspense watching the NFL draft anymore because they show the draftee on the phone before the pick is in and you already know they got drafted.

    ^^ absolutely. the christian ponder pick was the only good pick of the first round. we knew who all the other picks were before they happened. hopefully espn and the nfl changes this and the nba draft never gets like that.

    I absolutely HATE that the NFL shows the players on the phone completely giving away the pick. It takes away all the suspense and makes Goddell coming out and saying the players name a lot less meaningful. There is no reason for ESPN showing the players on the phone.

    As for the NBA, I agree with the lottery to prevent teams from tanking a season but I think it needs to be modified a bit. I feel like the team with the highest chance of getting the #1 pick rarely gets it. Thats not the way it should be.
