In the Longhorns’ first 6 games, he’s averaging 21.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks across 31.2 minutes per game. He’s proving through the early part of the season that he’s a great shooter from all three levels of the floor, with 47.8%, 46.3%, 83.3% splits.

Adou Thiero, Arkansas
Thiero is a junior forward who transferred from Kentucky after his sophomore season, following coach John Calipari, to play for the Razorbacks. Thiero’s production has grown each campaign, but he’s been truly breaking out to start this year. In 6 games, he’s posting 18 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 3.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks, with 65.1% shooting from the field, in 28 minutes per contest.
Josh Hubbard, Mississippi State
Sophomore guard Josh Hubbard has been spectacular to kick off his second season with the Bulldogs, who are 1 of 2 SEC teams sitting at 5-0. He’s putting up 20.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals per night. His scoring backs up his game, as he’s shooting 50% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and 90% from the free-throw line.
Who’s Cold
Solomon Washington, Texas A&M
The third-year forward of the Aggies is off to a rough start to the season. On 25% shooting from the field and 12.5% from beyond the arc, he’s averaging 4.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. His 25.4 minutes played rank 3rd on the team. The best part of his game has been his 78.6% mark from the charity stripe.
South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks are the worst team in the SEC, sitting 3-3 through their first 6 games. Their best win was at home against Towson by a score of 80-54. Out of their SEC-most loss total, their worst was against 16th-ranked Indiana, 87-71. Their most recent game was a loss to 22nd-ranked Xavier, 75-66. It’s still pretty early, but South Carolina needs to get it together before conference play begins.
SEC Top 5 Seniors
1. Chaz Lanier, Tennessee
A transfer from North Florida, guard Chaz Lanier is helping the Volunteers pick up right where they left off, as they’re the 2nd-highest ranked SEC team in the AP Poll. Lanier is a solid defender, with 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, but his strengths come on the offensive side. In 27.8 minutes per game, he’s scoring 17.7 points, on 48.8% from the field, 54.8% from downtown and 83.3% from the free-throw line, along with 1.2 assists.
2. Johni Broome, Auburn
Last week’s SEC player of the week, Broome is off to a great start this season. In 4th-ranked Auburn’s first 6 games, he’s putting up 20.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 3 blocks in 29.8 minutes per night. He is shooting 60.5% from the field. Auburn’s recent win against 5th-ranked Iowa State wouldn’t have been possible without Broome’s game winner.
3. Jalon Moore, Oklahoma
The Oklahoma forward is a big reason why the Sooners are 4-0 to start out their SEC tenure. This is Moore’s 2nd year with the Sooners; he spent his first two collegiate seasons with Georgia Tech. Across 26.3 minutes per game, Moore is getting it done on both ends of the floor. He’s averaging 18.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal on 52.9% shooting.
4. Cam Carter, LSU
Guard for the Tigers, Cam Carter has been a key factor to LSU’s success. In 6 games played, he’s averaging 17 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1 steal and 0.5 blocks on 43.7% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range. He scored 20 points in LSU’s recent 3OT win over UCF.
5. Alijah Martin, Florida
Martin’s Florida Gators are currently the top team in the SEC standings and 18th in the country, sitting a perfect 6-0 so far. His 43.8 field goal % and 37.2 three-point % are a big reason for that. His 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals are the best marks on the team.
