Player of the Week

Boopie Miller, SMU

The Mustangs have had a ton of success in their first season in the ACC. The squad is 11-2 and on a seven game win streak. Miller has been a big part of that success. The junior is averaging 15.4 points per game so far this season and had his best game of the season last week. Against Longwood, Miller put up 24 points and 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Miller could be a solid selection in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Freshman of the Week

Drake Powell, North Carolina

Powell came into the year as one of the highly touted freshmen in the ACC but so far this season he hasn’t been able to maximize his potential. He’s averaging 6.1 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game. This week he garnered 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists against Campbell. This could be the start of Powell showing why he was one of the best freshmen in this class.

Who’s Hot

Ian Jackson, North Carolina

Jackson has continued to improve as the season has gone on. The freshman started the season slow but has really heated up these last few weeks. He has had at least 20 points in back-to-back games. He set a career high of 26 points this past week against Campbell and won ACC Rookie of the Week.

Donald Hand Jr., Boston College

The Eagles have had a solid start to the season with a record of 8-5. They haven’t played themselves out of the ACC Tournament but they need to get on a roll to try and play like the top teams in the conference. Hand Jr. has been a star for this squad. He has had at least 20 points in back-to-back games. Against Fairleigh Dickinson the sophomore had a double double consisting of 29 points and 10 rebounds. He also won ACC Player of the Week.

Who’s Cold

Boston College Eagles

The Eagles have been in a bit of a rough streak recently. They have lost four of their last six games. They have one of the worst scoring offenses in the ACC averaging 71.3 points per game and have been reliant on Donald Hand Jr. to get the offense going. Boston College is going to need to have other players contribute offensively.

Virginia Tech Hokies

The Hokies have had a rough start to the year with a 5-7 record. The squad has lost six of their last eight games and it does not seem like that they will be able to change the direction of the season. Virginia Tech has a bottom three scoring offense in the conference averaging 70.4 points per game. The maroon and orange need to get more offense to be able to get in the win column.

Top 5 field goal attempts

1. Maxime Raynaud, Stanford

Raynaud has been the best player on Stanford this season. He has scored 98 field goal attempts, which is the most in the ACC so far this season. The senior forward is averaging 21.4 points per game this season and has really improved his draft stock.

2. Hunter Sallis, Wake Forest

Sallis is the leader for the Demon Deacons and has been the main reason why the black and gold are 10-4. Sallis is averaging 18.2 points per game and has scored 85 field goal attempts this season. He is someone who could end up being a late first round pick.

3. RJ Davis, North Carolina

Davis is playing his final year at North Carolina. He is a projected second round pick this year and has been the most consistent player for the Tar Heels. He has scored 78 field goals and is averaging 18.8 points per game.

4. Ishamel Leggett, Pittsburgh

The Panthers have been one of the best teams in college basketball to start this season and are 10-2. They have a well balanced team and have had many players including Leggett take their game to a new level. Leggett has scored 78 field goals and is averaging 17.5 points per game. He could rise up draft boards when the NBA Draft comes around.

5. Chase Hunter, Clemson

The Tigers are 10-3 and are led by Hunter. He is averaging 16.8 points and has made 75 field goals this season. He is one of the main reasons why Clemson has had such a strong start to the season. If he leads Clemson to an ACC Championship or punches them a ticket for March Madness he could be a second round pick in this year’s upcoming draft.
