CU.LIONSParticipantFor the Boston fans at this site, I want to hear your opinions on what I feel is a good, but tough dilemma to have. Boston of course has the 3rd pick (amongst other assets ) and with that 3rd pick there are potential many good options.
For myself, I really do love the potential of Bender. Thinking of Pozingus 2.0, but also like he idea of Okafor for our 3rd (as I see this as a real possibility) but lately there has been the rise/hype build up of Marquese Chriss. I must admit, I am really starting to like the idea if MC. Not sure if I love it more than the other 2. But I have been watching as much film as I can on him and do think he may be a real sleeper.
Then there is always using the 3rd pick (plus other assets) to go after Jimmy Butler. I wouldn’t want to use this option unless it is a part of the lure to get KD to sign with us.
Currently I am so unsure of what to do. What are your opinions on these options?

zcnumerounoParticipantWith all your assets, I would try to pry a guy like Jimmy Butler away, who will give the C’s a star they crave. But drafting Bender or Chriss, who is really rising, isn’t a bad alternative. Who knows? Maybe the Lakers draft Bender and you’ll be able to take Ingram, too. You guys are really sitting pretty in the draft. Danny Ainge is an evil genius.
I would be leery of Okafor, though. To me, he’s Al Jefferson 2.0 – a talented scoring big who rebounds, but is a black hole offensively and is a poor defender. His presence would hurt the ball movement that makes Brad Stevens’ offense click.

treytalkssports.comParticipantCeltic fan too.
I like Bender a lot, but I might like Murray even more. I think Murray is a legit scoring point guard who would work really well in CBS offense.
There is always a guy with all-star talent on the board at 3. The trick if finding him. Is it Chriss? Brown? Hield? Dunn? Davis? Bender?
But the thought of getting Butler, or maybe Cousins, is pretty alluring.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI’m sure Celtics can get Kevin Love for pennies on the dollar after this series.

MopgrassParticipantTrading for Okafor is their best case scenario. They need a center. They have so many young guards, it’s silly: Rozier, Hunter, Young, Smart (plus IT2 & Bradley). So, Murray and Hield don’t make s ton of sense. SF has one of their best guys: Crowder (so Jaylen Brown might be out, though I’d like to see him 3rd). PF is their most crowded position: Amir Johnson, and really, Olynyk and Sullinger are PF’s (plus Jordan Mickey, whom they like). I think Bender is a PF. Tyler Zeller is their only true center and no true centers at the top of the draft. So, while common wisdom is usually best player available, if they can grab Okafor 1) he’s better than the best player available 2) he fills the spot they need most 3) the Celtics have a ton more prospects and assets they can part with. If Bradley Stevens got Sullinger to work at center, he could definitely make Okafor work their.

BiggysmallsParticipantWhy are people comparing Bender to Porzingis?
I feel like those two players aren’t similar beyond the fact that they aren’t from the U.S
I’d still take him at 3 if I’m Boston because they need a PF. He’s got an upside that few guys in this draft seem to have. If not him, then I’d take Dunn and live with it.
Boston has a ton of assets, but the only real high-quality ones are related to those Brooklyn picks and I’d want to hang on to those if I’m Ainge because those can get them the superstar they crave…but for 9 years instead of 2 or 3.
Boston can trade for Butler and maybe advance another round in the playoffs, or they can hang onto those picks, take the scenic tour to contender status but stay in that mode for a much longer time.

CU.LIONSParticipant“Why are people comparing Bender to Porzingis? ”
This is simple for me. Both are very tall multi-skilled 7 fters who are quite young, deceptively athletic and full of potential, all while having a bit of mystery surrounding them since both players haven’t been seen too much since they are over seas players. Doesn’t mean they are the same players exactly, but a comparison does seem quite natural IMO. Even more so since both are players who may go top 5 in the lottery.

BallCity1ParticipantIf they decide to keep the 3rd pick I wouldn’t mind if it turns out to be Bender or Hield. Bender as a sort of BPA and future contributor, and Hield as a good shooter that the team needs. I would be all on board for a potential Jimmy Butler trade, but not an Okafor trade. He’s a pretty good player but I don’t think he’d be a good fit on the Celtics. I think they can get another center at some point who would be a better fit than him.

BKGingerSnapParticipantListen, we’re talking about Danny Ainge people and he wants to make trades. Now there are only really two players I think we could potentially get.
1. Boogie: the only way this happens is if Boogie forces his way out which is unlikely
2. Kevin Love: This is who we should try and trade for as his value is as low as it has ever been and cavs have spent way tooooooo much money. Here is my argument:
Due to Lebron’s size and athletisicm, Lebron team’s have always wanted to spread the floor so he can drive to the rim and kick out and create and do ridiculous Lebron things.
1. This has forced Love into a difficult situation because it means, the offense does not run through him as it did in Minnesota.
2. Love is forced to either try play the 5 where he just will get absused defensively or play stretch 4 which hurts his rebounding numbers, as he is a technique and box out rebounder instead of a athletisicm/crash the borads rebounder.
3. While everyone assumes Kevin Love is a really good 3pt shooter cause he’s white and put up huge numbers in Minnesota, He actually only shot above 38% from 3 once in his career and on the cavs has shot 36.7% and 36% from 3 these past 2 seasons. He’s not the sharp shooter people think he is.
This is why I would absolutely try and pursue Love if I was the Celtics. Getting traded would light a fire under his ass too.

220ParticipantI’m a bit scared for the rest of the East if the Celtics acquired Jahlil Okafor. Brad Stevens would probably mold him into the next Tim Duncan leaving the 76ers organization forever embarrassed that they gave him up for a pick that never comes close to the same level as Okafor on the Celtics.
