76ers Draft

I lean more towards Dunn over Murray. Dunn’s perimeter defense is stellar but Murray’s shot making ability is just as impressive. While Dunn looks more like the natural PG, I think Murray won’t have any problems finding or giving the ball up to his teammates. Tough choice and I might have just talked myself into Murray but first thought is Kris Dunn. 

If we land Simmons or Ingram with one of the top 2 picks, I wouldn’t rule out Bender at the 4th or 5th pick. Especially if Brown is gone, BPA strategy. You don’t pick a PG just because we have to throw McConnell out there every night, if you think Bender is going to be special in 3-4 years.

 If the 76ers are serious about building around Okafor, Noel, Embiid, and Saric in some fashion then they need to provide those bigs with a knockdown shooter. Imagine all the free shits Murray would get. He would provide them alot of space to operate in the post and would be a great compliment to Dario.

and unlikely…unlikley the Lakers 2nd worst pick will fall to 4 as the Knicks did last year, while the Sixers get #1.

BUT…if that was the case….

If you have 1 and 4….you take Simmons with the first pick.  He is a primary ball handler with a very suspect shot.  Therefore, for spacing purposes, you need someone that can shoot.  If you watched last year’s hoop summit, both players have incredible IQ, meaning they know how to play without the ball in their hands.  Therefore, you must take Simmons and Murray.  They might take a step back on their defense, but thats why you have Embiid and Noel.

If you have 2 and 4, it chagnes things.  Now you probably take Ingram, who is an offensive player in his own right with less ball-handling/ball dominance abilities.  I still think Murray is the way to go since he has the higher IQ.  But Dunn here becomes intriguing.  Now iwth Dunn and Ingram, you have incredible length and perimeter defense, along with Dunn’s ability to slash, and Ingram’s shooting.

Of the 4, Simmons Ingram Dunn Murray, the only combo I think would be ugly team-ball would be Simmons-Dunn.  There simply isn’t enough shooting to make space for your big-men with those two.

I echo the point about Bender.  If they get 4 from the Lakers, and your team isn’t going to contend, why not sign a FA PG and then wait 3 years when you really have a shot at the chip and bring in the X-factor Dragan Bender.

Also, there are plenty of guard possibilities with the two later first round picks (Maimi and OKC).  Through FA and late 1st round guards plus Marshall McConnell and Wroten (who looks like trash right now), we may have enough guard play to justify Bender with the 4th pick if we get it (hopefully).

 I would take Simmons at 1 and then Bacon at 4 or 5.. I think he is the perfect compliment to Simmons. Plus him and Ben are good friends.

 enough to get that Lakers pick this year then I think you go w/ Murray…… His skill set just jumps off the screen while he’s at Kentucky….. Dunn is older & he was going to be drafted last year at about #15 – 20 ish…. No way can you take a mid level 1st round pick w/ the #4 pick (other Lottery)
