I’m just getting back into the gym after slacking at bball the last few years. I could dunk off alley oops senior year of high school with two hands, but could never get it down without a lob.

The other day I went up with two hands, just got the ball over the rim and it dropped in after a brief delay — didn’t rattle around. Does that count?

Here is the definition of dunk: score by shooting the ball down through the basket with the hands above the rim.

So yes. How tall are you by the way?

5’11". My standing reach is about 7’9." I can touch about 10’9"-10’10" at my heighest, but its just so hard to hold onto the ball with one hand, and i can only get about 5 inches above the rim with two hands, so my "dunk" was pretty weak. Prob. just need to get my vert up another 2 or 3 inches

HELL NO, it aint a dunk!

A dunk needs to be an emphatic slam. Dropping it in counts as a lay-up. You probably only need 2 more inches which could easily be gained by doing some specific workouts….or laying off the do-nuts.

That was a dunk but not a clean one obviously.

    An aggressive layup.
