Pistons at 8

I also hope Detroit get Hezonja at 8. Unfortunately I think he’ll be gone by then. Unlike Aran, Detroit will not pick Lyles at 8. No chance after trading for Ilyasova.

If not Hezonja, I’d be happy with any of the wings – Winslow or Johnson. The only PF I would take is Porzingis, but he’ll be gone by then.

Not sure how wise it would be to base your draft decisions on the presence of a 28-year-old ham-and-egger like Ilyasova. Seeing as:

1) Whoever they pick may (more than likely) take a few years to mature.

2) Certainly Ersan can be just as "effective" off the bench.

 I’m hoping for trill will. If he can shoot like he shot in his workout video then, I’m down. Best defender in this class and if he add’s an offensive game, watch out. He could play at the 4 with Drummond and back him up also.

 van gundy came out after getting ilyasova and said he wss very happy he now had 4 starters he was very comfortable with  – jennings, kcp, ilyasova and drummond. this clearly spells out the pistons expectations with jackson and monroe, and for the draft, where theyre looking at a 3. i dont know their preference, but im expecting they will take winslow, hezonja, johnson or dekker.

Johnson as a pick makes too much sense for the Pistons for me.

I keep saying this but Hezonja and Stan Van Gundy will clash.. Hezonja would be perfect with Sacramento and George Karl.. Hezonja can be a bit of a headcase, and we all know Van Gundy is a hardass it just wouldn’t work.

 I think with Ersan in the mix I think a shooter like Hezonja would be great not only because of his spot up/scoring ability but his passing ability also. He’s definitely going to make bonehead plays shots passes but for what we have now he’d make that lineup lethal and I think anyone who really watches Detroit would agree. Sure the defense might suffer but at the same time we need someone other than our PG other than Jackson and Jennings that can handle the ball. I don’t think Hezonja is a go to iso guy this year but at least he would keep the ball moving and his shot alone is going to gives defenses hell so for those reasons I think he’s option A for Detroit. If not I still think you need to focus soley on shooting. Granted if Winslow somehow falls to 8 you take him and figure a way to make it work but I’d rather seem them just take the top shooter like Booker who could someday play SF or maybe even Turner or whoever because I think we’ve found this year is that if you have good floor spacing and versatility like GS, you can rely on your offense to win games because by going all out playing to your strengths your going to cause hell for that other team to find a way to stop you. So like I’ve felt from the get go we need a wing shooter or someone to play the 5 that can hit shots. You can easily throw Drummond out to guard the PF on most teams so maybe if you had Kaminsky (not that i want him at 8) or Turner to guard a lesser starting 5 or a backup I think you can live with it for periods.
