MeloSwagParticipantSeen quite a bit of shade thrown im on MCW on this site this year. His past 12 games he is averaging 17, 10, and 8 on 45% shooting. Crazy to me how every opinion I seen on a previous post was they would rather have muddiay. MCW is far from a perfect player, but given his level of teammates and what he has been asked to do; more times than not he has filled the role admirably, from my perspective, and has been improving vastly as of late.

TrillaParticipantI think he will be much more efficient when he has capable scorers around him and doesnt have to continuosly force things. When Philly gets other options on the perimeter it will only benefit him.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantHe is putting up empty stats on a turrible team. Until he is on a decent team, I think his stats should be taken with a grain of salt, and if you really want to look at his stats over the last 12, look at the 5.4 T/O’s he is averaging.

MopgrassParticipantBy your standard, we shouldn’t count the turnovers because they are empty stats.
His assists are impressive: he has a team where no one can shoot. Those assists have to be in transition. God knows he doesn’t have anyone to kick it out to. His rebounds are also very impressive. How many PG’s get that many rebounds?
His turnovers are the result of 1) Being asked to play at such a fast pace 2) Being the number one go to guy for scoring and ball-handling (despite not being able to shoot) 3) Having no one worth passing to 4) Being only a 2nd year player.
It’s hard to play well when no one expects anything out of the other 4 guys on your team. He plays well despite that, not because of it.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI said if you really want to look at his stats you should include the turnovers. Notice I didn’t say he wasn’t a capable player, I said that his stats should be taken with a grain of salt due to how bereft of talent the Sixers are. I think both the nay sayers and the pro MCW fans should reserve judgement till the management in Philly puts 4 other NBA quality players around him. Until then I don’t think we have a proper barometer to judge him, negatively or positively.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantMCW is a great young PG and one hell of a steal in a “weak” draft…
I think he needs to slow things down and focus on taking care of the ball and better shots, that will likely come when he’s placed around some veterans (hopefully Philly realizes this in the Summer of 2015)
Another thing that kills MCW is the lack of a consistent outside shot, if he ever learns how to shoot the ball he will look like a Top 5 PG…But at this point NO ONE on the 76ers including MCW can shoot and that has to be addressed ASAP, trade away everyone but MCW/Noel/Embiid/Saric/Wroten/McDaniels for a shooter or 2, draft a few this year I don’t care…We Need Shooters and Veterans around our young players…
If we can land another Top 3 pick and some 3pt specialist in the 2nd round we will be on track
Use that cap space on a Stud Sg or Sf and some veterans and I’ll be happy…

HitsterParticipantMCW has been putting up very impressive stats but it is on a losing team. Don’t forget that in KG’s first two seasons the Thunder went 20-62 and 23-59 after being 3-29 and KG had Green and then Westbrook as running mates. I’m not saying MCW will be at that sort of level but trying to put his output into context.
A scoring running mate is needed for MCW, Noel is more about defence at this moment and we need to see Embiid on an NBA court.
I can understand the 76ers playing run and gun but MCW should be allowed to control the pace. MVP level Steve Nash controlling a run and gun offence is a lot different to expecting a 2nd year NBA guy to. Also I’d guess MCW gets a fair few double teams at the moment.
Good win for Philly at Miami though.

SamCarlsonParticipantI oddly like what the sixers are starting to build. I think Noel is gonna be a good player but he needs to get stronger and play with a veteran pf. Embiid is going to be a monster I think as chad ford said watching him workout was like he was on a little tykes hoop. I also heard embiid compared to ibaka but a legit 7 footer bc he is such a fluid athlete. Also mcdaniels will come along as a good 3 and d player and I’m still not sure what they have in Covington. But bring over Saric and another high pick this year and they will have a very large group of talented player. Take next year to see what you really have and then start to add in fa’s in 2016. If they sign anyone this upcoming season it would be a waste

ibe12ParticipantI think the main reason MCW struggled early on is because he played no off season or pre season basketball while recovering from surgery. Missing that much time for a young player who is still trying to develop is brutal. That being said I’m kind of in the middle with MCW. If you have a chance to upgrade his position or get another piece with a higher upside I say go for it. If you can’t I’m fine with him for right now.

MkadozaParticipantIf he were on a good team with a balanced roster and defined team roles, I still see him putting up solid numbers (13-15 ppg, 5 rebounds 7 assists). He reminds me of what Shawn Livingston could have been, and I see no reason for him to be hated. He’s just the best player on a terrible team. And when your team is terrible, the critics will certainly show up, (see Anthony, C.)
But if you replaced MCW with Kyle Lowry for example, how different would both teams records be? I venture to guess not that much.
Well…. maybe not Kyle Lowry… He’s playing like a top 5 PG.
