AderitoParticipantWhat happened before the 2014-15 NBA season doesn’t matter whatsoever in these rankings. Neither does potential, and inevitable regressions to the mean are ultimately irrelevant for these purposes.
It’s all about what’s come to pass during the early portion of the current campaign, as we’re curious about how the Association’s best and brightest at each and every position stack up so far. That two-word phrase is undeniably key; it forces the focus to remain solely on the present and the last few weeks.
The list:
Point Guards:
1 – Stephen Curry
2 – Chris Paul
3 – Kyle Lowry
4 – Damian Lillard
5 – John WallHonorable Mentions: Kyrie Irving, Ty Lawson, Deron Williams

2 – Klay Thompson
3 – Jimmy Butler
4 – Monta Ellis
5 – Dwyane WadeHonorable Mentions: Kobe Bryant, DeMar DeRozan, Joe Johnson
Small Fowards:
1 – LeBron James
2 – Rudy Gay
3 – Gordon Hayward
4 – Carmelo Anthony
5 – Tobias HarrisHonorable Mentions: Nicolas Batum, Luol Deng, Kawhi Leonard
Power Fowards:
1 – Anthony Davis
2 – LaMarcus Aldridge
3 – Dirk Nowitzki
4 – Pau Gasol
5 – Derrick FavorsHonorable Mentions: Tim Duncan, Greg Monroe, Zach Randolph

trelos6ParticipantFavors. 30.7 mpg / .525 fg / 9.3rpg / 1.5apg / 1.4bpg / 0.4spg / 14.8ppg
Griffin. 34.1 mpg / .483 fg / 7.5rpg / 4apg / 0.3bpg / 0.6spg / 20.9ppg
Love. 35mpg / .405 fg / 8.7rpg / 2.7apg / 0.3bpg / 0.7spg / 15.3ppg
Favors compares well except ppg. He makes up for that by playing some great D.

You’re supposed to ignore what Griffin and Love did last year or the year before that.

BornaskulParticipantI think Wall should be higher, both Portland and Washington have very good records but the difference to me is that Wall is undoubtedly the best player on his team and he is carrying them , when on the other side Lillard has Aldridge who is playing pretty well (you have him at 2 just behind Davis)

fundamentalsforfunParticipantI think tony parker deserves at least an honourable mention, epsecially when you have kyrie on that honourable mention list. no doubt the top 5 have all played exceptioanlly well, although personally I no-longer believe that paul is the best pg in the league.

B-ball fanParticipantHopefully this will be better received, haha.
PG: 1. Stephen Curry
2. Chris Paul
3. Tony Parker
4. John Wall
5. Damian Lillard
SG: 1. Jimmy Butler
2. James Harden
3. Klay Thompson
4. Demar DeRozan
5. Monta Ellis
SF: 1. Rudy Gay
2. Gordon Hayward
3. Kawhi Leonard
4. LeBron James
5. Carmelo Anthony
PF: 1. Anthony Davis
2. Dirk Nowitzki
3. Pau Gasol
4. LaMarcus Aldridge
5. Markieff Morris
C: 1. Marc Gasol
2. DeMarcus Cousins
3. Dwight Howard
4. Al Jefferson
5. Chris Bosh
A lot of big time players injured (Durant, Westbrook, Rose, Wade) or struggling (Stephenson, James, Griffin, Love) in the early season, making for some interesting ratings. Tough omissions included Griffin, Bogut, Lawson (the only Nuggets player currently keeping the team afloat) and Lowry. Even Draymond Green got some consideration, as he has been phenomenal in the early season and is probably one of the most underrated players in the league now, although I’m sure that will change if GS playing like they are.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantDude, Lebron might be struggling for Lebron but if any other player was putting up 25/7/6 we’d be calling them the best player in the league. Putting him at #4 for small forwards is absurd. He is by far the top SF and top player in the game right now.
Also Markieff Morris at #5 for PFs? Over Blake Griffin and about 5 others that I would rate above him? Silliness

B-ball fanParticipantHe is playing well and efficient. It was close between him, Griffin, Ibaka and Green, but he is playing great.
LeBron is a tough one. I probably should have had him higher, in hindsight. I sort of downgraded him because he is not playing up to the level his team needs him to and his defense continues to look a little subpar. The Cavs have been putting up better numbers with LeBron on the bench so far this season.
LeBron isn’t the top player in the game right now. Last season he was. This season, AD, Curry, Harden, Butler, Dirk and the top-3 centers have all been better.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————
Morris: 15.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 2.1 APG, 18.7 PER
Griffin: 22.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.9 APG, 19.38 PER
Duncan: 13.4 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 2.7 APG, 21.36 PERRandolph: 16.1 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 1.8 APG, 20.31 PER
Millsap: 17.7 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.9 APG, 19.55 PER
He is playing great but the stats certainly don’t indicate that he is having a better year than any of these other PFs (although Duncan is playing more of a C role this season), nor does he have the overall impact on his team that those other guys do.
Lebron isn’t playing up to the level his team needs to be but I’d still say he’s playing better than almost every other player in the league.

OhCanada-ParticipantDude Griffin gets double coverage on every other possession and he getsfouled twice as hard as any other player because people are sick of getting dunked on. His presence on the court opens up so much for his teammates. Stop watching the stats youre out the lunch and its dinner time.
