Gasol for Bynum Deal Discussed

It makes complete sense to tank this year and try again next year imo. The Bulls and Lakers would cut Bynum, save on luxury tax, and position themselves up to tank. There is absolutely no better year to tank because a top 6 pick at this point looks like a complete stud. With the 2014 draft class being as hyped as it is I am quite sure fans would completely understand trying to lose games this year.

 deal makes no sense. This whole tanking ideal has blasted and exploded out of control. Gasol is still a top 10 center in this league. He looks even better playing with Kobe. All you have to do is watch the games to see Gasol is unhappy with the D’antoni system. He has to succumb to posting up 15 ft or further from the basket. When Kobe came back this year we all saw how Gasol looked better and more engaged. Thats just one part.

I dont understand why trade a guy in Gasol who can obviously give you help for the next 2 years with Kobe for a guy who you are unsure of can stay healthy for a full year. I certainly dont see the logic in trading then dumping bynum later, its like losing Gasol for a guy who still doesnt seem to be 100%. Whats wrong with basketball these days. Kobe want be happy about this.

 Lakers don’t care as much about the luxury tax as you think.

They have a huge TV deal thats why they gave Kobe so much money.

Yes they amnestied World Peace but he’s not the same player anymore.

Without Gasol they would have a team with no stars till Kobe comes back, I don’t see it happening.

Only way I would do this if its for Anthony bennet and a  protected draft pick and Bynum.

The cavs want to make the playoffs BADLY the owner said the cavs will win a ship before mia…..he has to eat those words he wants a winning team now. Could you get away with playing gasol at the center in the east? maybe. Tristan Thompson is the cavs power forward they realize now bennet is more of a pf with asthma problems then a explosive hybrid sf. He may come back strong next year but does he fit? they now have him and a draft pick to package along with Bynums contract and maybe even a dion waiters. If you are going to add have pf on the roster…..Kevin love is looking for a star to play with. carmello isn’t feeling new York. I could see them pulling a deal like this to get some asset ,clear some cap. if its with the lakers who knows but I do know the cavs are sitting on a goldmine of assets and future picks they own Memphis and Sacramento as well as their own.

 I don’t see the Cavs offering a ton to get Gasol because the Lakers NEED to lose. Whether you like Gasol or not him being there helps the Lakers win games and imo that isn’t something they should be doing. I think fans would understand trading him away in order to get a higher draft pick if they just look at the big picture. And do you know why they did that? Look at the free agents…the Lakers are not getting LeBron James. That is just not happening. And most Laker fans tend to agree with that. But they still continue to talk about "1 or 2 max level guys, we can win a title in a year or two", and that just is not true. Where are these max level players? The only FA that fits that bill is Melo, and he would be a downright disasterous fit with Kobe, and can’t even get his current team to .500. He’s reached his prime, he going to be 30, and you are not winning a title with Kobe, Melo and a bunch of role players in 2015. 

The Lakers are looking at I believe the 2016-2017 offseasons. They know Kevin Love’s contract will come up, as will Westbrook’s, as will Durants. Are these all realistic? Probably not, but that is what they are thinking. They are going to be bad for a couple years, I think they have come to grips with that. Not building a dream team summer of 2014. Sorry.
