akhan786ParticipantAP is reporting due to a severe back injury Lebron James will need surgery that will sideline him for the season and playoffs. A press conference will be held with the entire Miami Heat organization and David Stern.
APRIL FOOLS
Haha I heard this joke over the radio and I actually believed it. I had been busy all day so it hadn’t registered to me at all that it was April Fools and so while driving on the highway I almost had a heart attack and subsequent crash when I heard the news lol. I immediately started worrying about my Fantasy because I’m in the Finals and then I started thinking about how much the playoffs were gonna suck and how Lebron was just playing his best bball of his career….and then I looked at the date lol. Needless to say I felt pretty stupid.

MikezParticipantNext year i’m just going to sleep all of April 1st, honestly, the amount of stupidity this date has become…
I miss the days where april fools jokes were you running chasing someone with your car until they got into an alley chased them on foot with a knife until they hit a dead end, started backing into a corner and working their way towards the ground asking why then you rip off your ski mask yelling “april fools!!!”
damn technology…

HaleParticipantI gave you +1 just because I finally didn’t fall for an April Fools joke.

frogmanParticipantNext year write something we may believe. We woulda heard if there was a chance Lebron being out for the season. Take notes from the dude that fooled me with the RIP Kareem. Good luck!

aamir543ParticipantHad I not gone to ESPN first, I may have fell for it, but I figured that A) This would be plastered all over ESPN, and B) SportsCenter would’ve given me a notification.

akhan786ParticipantIntention wasn’t to fool you people. Moreso to tell how I got fooled into thinking Lebron was out for the season.
Reading comprehension isn’t a strength of many here.

frogmanParticipantWell if you really believed that then common sense isn’t strength of yours.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThis wasn’t cleverly thought-out

GronounoursParticipantSo “RIP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar” results in +35 points, and “LeBron out for season” in -35. Is there a rational explanation for this? Is it so funnier to announce the death of an former star than the injury of a current star?
BTW, both are terrible.

CynthiaParticipantThe reason the Kareem one was more believable is because Kareem is quite honestly pretty old. It’s very likely he could have actually passed.
But yes it’s a terrible thing to joke about, but it’s one of the few that actually got me yesterday, if even just for a second.

HitsterParticipantThe RIP Kareem is not in my book particularly funny and the injury one is a bit unoriginal, I would have thought something like Duke or Kentucky Uni converting into the 31st NBA Team would have been more original.
One of the best ones we had in the UK a few years back was that the England Football team would play in the Premier League and loads of fans started bombarding phone-ins as they thought their teams might lose their top players.
