 LeBron sets the bar hiiiiiiiiiiigh…. but howard does one’s best… everyday.

im sure stan would be more than happy with him sitting out. Lebron did a little, tiny bit more damage today by saying winning his 3rd MVP would mean a lot to him. I think Howard deserves more blemishes on his PR resume then Lebron, but the microscope on Lebron is so magnified, and the expectations for his career are so high, that Lebrons PR decisions will always be more scrutinized than those of Dwight’s.

I would love if DeVos benched Dwight until his contract is up. Obviously won’t happen but it would be too funny to see him miss out on a year of his prime just because he was whining too much

Toronto gave up a league worst 27.2 free throw attempts per game last season and averaged 5.8 fewer attempts than their opposition. The 3.8 points scored by their opponents from these extra free throws exceeded the difference between the Raptors 90.7 scoring average and the 94 points they allowed.

Lowry is not a reluctant three-point threat, firing 4.5 threes per game. Bargnani and Kleiza both averaged 3.7 three-point attempts last season and Ross, Fields and the returning Anderson are all solid long range threats who are willing shooters.

In just one lockout-shortened season, Coach Casey changed the culture in Toronto. Once one of the easiest teams to score and rebound against in the NBA, Casey’s Raptors rapidly evolved into a top-10 rebounding and defensive club. The next step is to build on last year’s efforts and create enough offensive punch to win some games and the changes to last season’s roster have gone a long way towards accomplishing those goals.

If the Bobcats aren’t the team in the league basement this year, however, who is? Most of last year’s other ho-hum rosters improved this offseason, with Washington adding more veterans, New Jersey adding like a billion dollars’ worth of starting lineup to their payroll, New Orleans adding a Unibrow, and Sacramento bringing in a real point guard and a very talented rookie power forward.

But will they be worse than the Bobcats? And where will Detroit and Sacramento and Phoenix end up in all this? With real lottery prizes like Nerlens Noel, Cody Zeller, and Shabazz Muhammad likely to declare for next year’s draft, these are questions worth asking.

Former Houston Rockets center Ralph Sampson also was inducted on Friday night. However, going into the 2012-13 season, the question of whether or not the Thunder have improved enough to remain a championship contending team bears asking.
