Grading the Draft Comments. I Don’t Get It

most people, both fans and "experts" alike,  have their idea of what players are good and what they are going to do and grade the draft based on those opinions when in reality we will have no way to grade this draft for a few years. I mean go back over any draft in nba history and see if what the opinions on players at the time of the draft were all accurate. They arent so all this draft grade stuff is just talk for now.

Your comment has alot of truth to it, but because of some GMs strategy in the draft i.e. targeting a defenisive big man or a guard etc. Not always is the best player available taken creating value picks. I would agree that rating these is difficult and often inaccurate, but if we took 100 mock draft how many would have had biyombo before knight?

I do not understand how on this sight the Grizzlies get a C+ for taking a high potential guy. If he was thought to go as high as 17 I think that getting Selby at 49 is a pretty good pick. Every other site gives us an A except for this one.

As far as potential lottery picks, although what you say has a point….sometimes one pick can send shockwaves through a draft.  this was the case with the Tristan Thompson pick.  his selection caused Knight to drop considerably I believe because the 1st 3 teams went for the best available I believe, and although Thompson could end up being the best available in hindsight….I didnt see a board that had him that high.  Some teams stuck with their pick, like Washington to Vesely but just a lil tweak like that can cause another player to drop.  I think this is evident due to some players being picked by teams they didnt even work out for….like Knight.  So if a team doesnt address its needs, there rating could be lower than what is expected by us just because that team may have taken the best available.  The Pistons got an A on the sites I saw, this contradicts all of what I just laid out….if you are rating on their needs, I wouldnt rate it that high, because   man are they loaded with guards and where does Singler fit?

Some gave them C, some gave them A-… We don’t know who to believe but we have to at least wait for the result to happen… Look at what happened with ATL in 2005 drafting Marvin Williams, everyone gave at least A- or B and the results now are not quite so pretty..
