A Tractor for HOFer:Draft day trades

It was honestly an awful trade, but even with Nowitzki that team would have had issues. If you do not recall, Tim Thomas and Glenn Robinson kind of clashed, as Thomas was pretty much the same type of player. This team had talent, and would have been much better with Nowitzki, but it was getting down to the grind of having to trade Big Dog or TT. Ray Allen and Dirk would have been a really cool combo though, no doubt about that. Did you read the article about the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar trade from Milwaukee though? Just know, Milwaukee has a very difficult time keeping players, and the line-up you post is full of offensive firepower, but would lack a lot of strength, rebounding and therefore defense.

Paul and Williams seem like obvious picks over Bogut now, and there were plenty of arguments for Paul to be the pick at 1-2 at the time, but it is really difficult to find a Center, and that Milwaukee team was getting killed inside. Not to say that Paul or Williams would not make them a better team, but they would still have needed a lot of rebuilding, and come free agent time, would they have been able to keep either of those guys? It is sad to say, but they probably made the right pick in Bogut. He actually seems to be loyal and willing to stay in Milwaukee, and I am guessing he will stay there for quite a while. It would not be a sure thing if Milwaukee had a solid squad, but would CP3 and D-Will have not been on the first bus out of town and begging for a trade under the Bucks current circumstances? You need to look at the big picture, things are not always as simple as being able to maintain a team exactly the way it is. With a team like Milwaukee, they sadly enough need to take certain factors into account. They have made a number of poor moves, but they have a very tough time attracting players to Wisconsin and keeping them there.

I have no idea what they do now though.  I was stunned by the Salmons and Gooden signings and they will regret those.  I think Magette’s contract comes off the books in 2012 so not a completely horrible situation.  I know they get some relief when Redd’s contract comes off the books this summer, but they will most likely need that money to keep Jennings around.  I like Bogut, Luc Mbah, Jennings and the rookier Sanders, but I would not consider any of them elite or able to carry a team.  I am not sure of the direction of this team.

Sometimes getting compared to a successful player can help and sometimes it hurts..

Traylor was compared to Barkley coming out of college..He was an exciting player to watch..He could rebound the and dribble the ball the length of the floor and make a play…Sometimes a guy can have the skills to be great,but dont have the desire or work athic to obtain it….

Cant pass up on Bogut, he was the top prospect and also a 7’1 280 pound Center with skills. I doubt anybody would have passed up on Bogut besides maybe Atlanta who were just horrible at drafting. They needed a PG and passed up on 2, I still dont understand that at all.

They cant sign Lebron, Wade, Bosh, JJ, Amare etc. so all they could really do was make the wisest moves and acquire the best players possible to improve for playoff contention, and hope Jennings and Bogut take their game to the next level.
