Pj Hairston
Depending on the type of run Carolina has in the tourney will decide his fate. I'm not being biased cuz I'm a Tarheel fan but I think other than Muhammad, Hairston is the best 2 guard offensively. He isn't the athlete Oladipo is but he is a solid athlete. And he can score the ball. I don't know why but something about his game reminds me of Paul Pierce. If he declares he will be a first rounder.
He reminds me of Aaron Afflalo with his stocky 6'5 build, similar size and athletecism. Their game is quite similar as well, Hairston will likely fall in late first round. I actually like the other TarHeel wing Reggie Bullock better.
He really impressed me early in the year when they played in the Maui and vs Indiana, he looked like UNC's only player who could score. Tough, competitive player, obviously shown by him playing with torn webbing in his hand.
He is terribly underrated. I think he is right below Oladipo as a prospect and should get looks in the late lottery/mid first round. He has single handily turned UNC's season around. Silky smooth jumper a complete offensive game and deceptively a freak athlete. Consistancy and possibly size (I think he is 6'6" he looks just a hair shorter than Bullock) are his only glaring weaknesses.
I could see him having a very successful NBA career if he maybe stays all 4 years and he would for sure be a POY candidate by his senior year
I have been saying he was underrated all year, and i believe he's our best player barely edging out Bullock. But if he wants to have more of an impact in the league he needs another year of polish. He's improved steadily so far in his career and another offseason of working on his conditioning, ball handling, and defense will help his longevity once he gets to the league.
He's already a great shooter, but if he stays and comes back next year i believe his game would be on another level. Depending on UNC's tournament success i see him maybe sneaking up to a late lotto pick at highest and a early second round at worst.
I like the swagger and attitude he plays with but he's a very so-so NBA prospect. He's a prospect at all because of his shooting but he lacks any other NBA skills. His handle is below-average, he's not a penetrator and he doesn't appear quick enough to be a good NBA perimeter defender, which is a must if he's going to be a 3-and-D role player.
Maybe he can be a Rasual Butler who made a solid career solely out of shooting. On the high end, maybe the player Martell Webster's been this season but i don't think he's as good an athlete as Webster is.
JoeJo, he is not one-dimensional. He does fall in love with the 3 point shot, but he takes it to the hole a lot. He had an array of finishes today including several with his left hand that has 8 stitches on it.
I can't put a finger on a good comparison for him. I like a bigger Marcus Thornton or even a Bradley Beal one is good. He is PLENTY athletic. Look at his dunk on Georgia Tech's 7'1" center this season. I am not sure what made Bradley Beal a top 3 pick and Hairston is considered second round (for now). Strong body, smooth jumper that he falls in love with too much and a beast rebounder.
Rasual Butler and Webster are better comparisons for Reggie Bullock.
It doesn't really matter if he's "athletic" or not, just what can he do in certain aspects of the game. Nobody thinks Andre Miller is "athletic" but in college and the pros he's been able to get by guys and finish at the rim. Same with Greveis Vasquez in a way. I've seen Hairston pull off a few nice drives but right now that aspect of his game is erratic and hindered by a so-so handle and a lack of balance on many drives.
Rating what he might do in the NBA, I don't see him as a penetrator, defender, secondary ballhandler or playmaker, mostly just a shooter. If he can be a lights out shooter in the NBA, he'll be a valuable contributor, but otherwise, he needs a lot of improvement.
I like him. He is streaky and inconsistant though. When i think of Hairston, I think of JR Smith or Vernon Maxwell...

I don't like any of the Blue bloods except Kansas but no one can ignore that Pj can play, and so far this afternoon he is showing great toughness by playing with 8 stitches in his off hand. But not only is he playing he is playing well. I always thought this whole year he could sneak into the first round 25 to 30 pick. 6'5 in sneakers long arms strong frame deceptive athlete. With a lights out stroke.Should he declare or should he wait?
