Chris Paul talking trade?

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/13659617/new-hornets-brass-already-fa...

Chris Paul is liking the Lakers among 2 other teams.

I would hope it's the Knicks. If I was Donnie Walsh, I would offer Danillo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and picks for him RIGHT NOW.

I

I think you are confusing the Knicks with a team that actually has draft picks.

Anyway, I don't buy it. No way they trade Chris Paul.

Mmmm. Would I rather play for the lakers or knicks. Tough choice.

Just yesterday he was saying he's now happy with the direction N.O is going in

The Knicks have 1st round

The Knicks have 1st round picks.

I think it's becoming a possibility now. CP3 is a superstar. If the team is not contend on winning a title- He wants a trade. If New Orleans decided they couldn't win- Why not move him for players and picks?

I'm not saying Knicks over Lakers. I'm saying if CP3 had NY on his list of teams he would like to be traded to...make the deal now.

Ot going anywhere. They

Ot going anywhere. They aren't tryna lose fan money just to appease other team fans. Would be a bad business move unless they got back a superstar. Even more so since he's not a free agent next year

I wonder what kind of deal

I wonder what kind of deal would have to be done for the Lakers to grab Paul...it's far fetched, but anything's possible, I don't see a championship coming for the Hornets anytime soon, so I'm sure he would love to get to a place where he could get one sometime soon.

The Magic would make more sense for him in terms of trade value coming back to N.O. Not quite sure the Lakers would be willing to part with much of what the Hornets would want in return. Interesting talk at least...but that's all I really see it as, talk...

hornets are not in a tough

hornets are not in a tough spot to trade him until next year. but if he really wants out, might as well get what they can for him now. But its gonna have to be something special. Not just picks 5 years down the road that will be in the 20's anyways.

I don't understand what

I don't understand what people think when they say " He's too much of the Franchise"

You know what, build around what you have already on the roster and the pieces you get back for Paul. If Chris Paul wants a trade- I say trade him, don't keep him on the roster just because he's a market piece. Teams like Portland, Orlando, New York, Indiana, Both LA teams and Houston have pieces to restart the build of the Hornets.

Plus, Darren Collison isin't a slouch. I think he could earn NO fans respect with his play. HE IS NOT CHRIS PAUL but he was good when he played.

Because you're not looking at

Because you're not looking at it from
a business stand point. That's how owners look st it. Trade Paul and u lose millions. Less fans. Less jersey sales. No one likes losing money. Most owners rather make money than win. To some it's not all about winning. And I can't blame them

Paul for Odom, S Brown, and

Paul for Odom, S Brown, and Caracter? I realy don't see it happening but if it did...the lakers would be unbeatable. They'd have the best player in the league, arguably, at 3 positions. Pat Riley would just shake his head.

Unlike other teams we don't need Paul. Would be nice but we are already the best. Eventually we will get another star to go with out rising star in bynum. Like always

Here's a trade

Here's a trade idea

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=24xrvqo

The Hornets get a couple expiring contracts, 3 1st round picks ( from Denver and 2 from New York), Danillo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler. This gives them multiple draft picks in upcoming seasons and cap space in 2011/2012 to built around Gallo-Collison-Thornton.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=28cu6xo

The Hornets get 4 players to rebuild this roster. Derrick Favors is a excellent get back in the deal. Harris, Charlie V and Prince are good for a season. If they lose, you get a lotto pick and can let Prince go. New Jersey gets a superstar PG. Detroit gets another post player for the team and Courtney Lee who could also be moved again.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2fnykc9

The Laker deal. I think the Lakers would have to throw back 2 1st round picks back to even it out but both sides seem to benefit in this deal IMO.

Damn stanford, I didn't know

Damn stanford, I didn't know you were on the lakers roster, lol, j/k. And one more thing, the best shouldn't settle, you can always be better. If the opportunity was seriously there for Paul, I would love to see L.A. grab him...but as I said earlier in this thread, it's all talk, just a pipe dream at this point...

Man if I'm a team looking to

Man if I'm a team looking to get a pg I would be going after Darren Collison. You can't have him and Paul playing at the same time and plus he would be easier to get.

i would love paul to join the

i would love paul to join the lakers, but im curious for who. I value bynum and the defense, length and potential he brings to the table more then most. The big advantage the lakers have on everybody is their length and im not sure paul, as great as he is, would bring as much to the table in the triangle as he does for just about any other team. Not saying i wouldnt trade bynum or odom, but i would think long and hard about it.

Chris Paul would make Dwight

Chris Paul would make Dwight Howard soooo much better. I would love to see this happen for Orlando. Granted, Dwight has a long way to go with his footwork and low post moves, but Chris Paul would actually get the ball in Dwight's hands whereas he has no legit playmaker right now. Orlando should really be pushing this.

Yeah the Magic would be

Yeah the Magic would be extremely legit with Chris Paul, I agree. Jameer Nelson limits them at the crucial points of their season because his height limits his effectiveness as a playmaker for others.

stanford, are you a towel boy

stanford, are you a towel boy for the Lakers? Because "their" length is "their" strength, not "ours". But as you stated recently, the "new Pippen" (Ebanks) would fill in Odom's spot nicely...LOL

Haha, you negged me for that, classic!

Jameer Nelson is a stud PG,

Jameer Nelson is a stud PG, but he lacks that play-making ability to make others around him better. He has a really solid jumper, nice strength against other PG's on the defensive side, and he's not afraid to take big shots. Paul would just bring that little bit of on court vision that Nelson seems to lack, and he would notice Dwight being taken out of games and find ways to help him be effective, whether it be on lob passes or or open looks by drawing defenders out of the paint.

Orlando would make the most sense in this situation, it would greatly increase their chances in the East next season...

Knicks don't have their own

Knicks don't have their own 1st the next 2 yrs but what do the Lakers have to give the Hornets?
NY has a better shot with guys like Felton, Douglas, Chandler, Gallo, Randolph, Walker
Lakers only expiring is Vujacic. Odom is a possibility but he's not a young guy.
Orlando foolishly gave Duhon money and the Knicks might've done the same with Felton.
Still does he have a trade clause where he can say where he wants to go?

The trade machine trade with the Knicks is a joke they'll lose Gallo, Chandler, 2 picks and Bill Walker.
Basically they'll have 3 Pg's, no SG, SF and a bunch of bigs than.

The Lakers deal is even dumber y would u give up Odom and Bynum for Wright, Paul and Posey.
They have Artest and Walton at SF, who would be the big men for L.A. outside of Gasol.

The 3 way trade makes a lot more sense the Hornets get a nice Pg in Harris and Prince's expiring.
Nets get a star in Paul and Pistons get a legit big man in West.

If Hornets could get top

If Hornets could get top picks, expirings and make the other team take back Okafor or Posey you have to do it. They'll be losing a lot of money this year anyway becaz the payroll is at almost 70 mill but next summer they'd have a ton of cap room and picks too.

Come on now, no need to take shots. I didn't overvalue NY's players. The Knicks would have the most to get Paul anyway. Gallo is a good scorer, Chandler is a decent 2 man not great but could be a solid 6th man IMO. If I was really overvaluing, I would have said Gallo-Paul straight up.

Most fans say the teams name, unless you're 12, which is understandable. Wow buddy, your getting all defensive like I just kicked your dog, calm down. And the Ebanks thing was a joke, I already read the other thread smart guy...

And KnickBoy, Gallo is a very good player, he might not be a superstar, but other teams would definitely want his services. Wilson Chandler is a solid player too, very tradeable. Some people can't see that though, obviously.

But by saying

" I want a trade if the team is not looking to win" is not a way of asking out?

Let me ask you Stanford, have the Hornets made ANY moves that said to you " Damn, there in it to win it" or "Wow, they wanna win it all this season"

i think the chandler okafor

i think the chandler okafor trade was a clear sign they were trying to win. Okafor had like 3 more years on his deal, but since tyson was injured they moved him for a player they thought could help win games despite the longer contract. (although they probably wished they didnt)

I don't think so. I think that was a deal to save a couple bucks ( Okafor's deal was lesser then Chandler's deal at the time)

My point is- The Hornets didn't make one move to say " Wow, they are trying to stay firm in the West race" in my eyes in the past year.

He also said the other day

He also said the other day that he's happy with. The direction that the team is going in. You don't realize that he's not gonna get traded just because he wants to. It's not up to him. The team holds all the cards. And we know he's not gonna just sit out till he's traded. Basically everything we ate talking about is just what some want to happen but isn't even close to happening

hornets are strapped

hornets are strapped financially. CP3 doesnt go down, they make the playoffs. I think they are waiting on peja's deal to expire so they can add somebody. They just shipped Mo pete out too. THey are in a solid spot to bring talent in over the next year or two.

You think they traded

You think they traded chandler and his 2 years remaing for okafor and his 5 years remaining to save money? The difference in yearly salary was like 1-2 million dollars which they could have saved in many different ways, but taking on a long term deal for an expiring in no way says it was made to save money.

I cannot think of one player

I cannot think of one player who demanded a trade and didn't get thier wish at some point.

Also http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/68279/20100721/report_paul_has_de...

According to a source with knowledge of his plan, Chris Paul has requested that the Hornets trade him to the Knicks, Magic or Lakers before the season begins.

"He wants out," the source told Ken Berger of CBS Sports. "He wants to play with another superstar. He wants to follow LeBron's model of teaming up with other great players."

NBA sources say that members of Paul's camp told them recently, "He's not going to start the season in New Orleans."

The Hornets will try to persuade Paul to remain based on the team's new direction.

"Paul won't go public with his trade request -- if he did, he'd be subject to a fine under NBA rules -- but those with knowledge of his plans believe his desire to pair up with another superstar (or two) has gained too much momentum to stop," writes Berger.

The Knicks are preparing to make an attractive offer to acquire a superstar talent via trade.

"According to sources familiar with the Knicks' strategy," writes Berger, "part of the reason for orchestrating the sign-and-trade for David Lee -- which yielded young talents Anthony Randolph and Kelenna Azubuike from Golden State -- was to stock the roster with attractive assets that could be used to acquire such marquee players if the opportunities presented themselves."

Theres nothing wrong at all

Theres nothing wrong at all about saying "we" when it comes to sports. You may not hit any homeruns, get any touchdowns, or drain any 3-pointers, but supporting your team to the fullest should be enough to be considered apart of the team.

As for the CP3, I'd trade my left nut for him.

..See! The Knicks do have valuable assets!
