tfo1983ParticipantThis kid is hyped after breaking LeBron’s scoring record. I watched 4 o r 5 highlight tapes on this kid and he looks legit. He reminds of a better verison of Gordon Hayward. His jumper is so pure, good handles, great vision, good lateral movement/change of direction ability, likes to share the ball, very smooth & under control out there and can finish around the rim. Also, the kid doesn’t seem to miss anything at the FT. Also, I saw a lot of comments saying that he’s not "athletic," which he clearly is. He’s just not a bigtime leaper or sprinter. His change of direction, body control and pull up ability is top notch.
I think this kid could be a very special player at Duke and even in the NBA. Anyone have any thoughts on this kid?
Look up his 59-point game on YouTube.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantLike I always say when recruits go to Duke… Lets see how they use him. Grayson Allen is a stud but you see how they using him… We will see. Alex Murphy.. cough, cough… He looks legit though

mtpandolfiParticipantAllen is a stud, but is a black hole on offense and makes dumb plays. The Notre Dame game was a huge confidence boost for him and with a front-loaded schedule, will get more burn with a short bench. Alex Murphy was extremely overhyped when he signed with Duke. He would show the occasion flashes when he saw the floor, but was a liability on defense while not having the offensive game to make up for it, and was buried in an already deep position. He’s not exactly tearing it up at UF either, and is getting 2x more playing time. Kennard is leaps and bounds better than Alex was as a Senior, and has the killer instinct/drive that Murphy lacks.

Lotto StudParticipantI watched the clip a day ago from Luke Kennard’s personal achievement. If he keeps it up on the next level, he will become a serious force for any team after Duke, that prides themselves on spacing. He picks and chooses his spots in the disposition of Klay Thompson.

tfo1983ParticipantLol nice reference on Murphy, but Kennard seems much better than him. Grayson will be a contributor for Duke next year, but I don’t think he has the complete game like Kennard. Grayson Allen is an unreal athlete though.

jonwangcbParticipantI am really interested to see how he is used next season. If Tyus Jones leaves, Kennard will probably be running the point with Grayson Allen, since Duke will not have a PG on the roster. He will have plenty of opportunity to contribute, early and often.

DukeDaSquadParticipantMy college comp for him is d’Angelo Russell. I don’t expect him to put up the numbers that Russell is putting up now but no one expected Russell to put up those numbers also.

r377ParticipantCurrently ranked as a 18th overall pick I am not sold on Luke Kennard. Yes, he is a good shooter but is slow and unathletic. I think he will struggle in the NBA. He won’t be able to finish at the rim in the NBA and his shot release (minimal jumping) will see him struggle in the pros….
