ACC The ACC is soooo overrated this year…Big11Ten could get 8 teams in the NCAAs and have two potential Final Four teams in MSU and Purdue. ACC has a rebuilding UNC and quite possibly the whitest Duke team ever? C’mon people. Think for yourself. Stop drinking the Dickie V Kool-Aid.
ACC A “rebuilding” UNC even though they have Ed Davis and company? I also didn’t realize race was a factor in how good a team is. I realize you probably mean that it makes them un-athletic, but that’s false in itself and you know it. I guess your beloved Big 10 stars Robbie Hummel, Garrick Sherman and others didn’t get that memo. And sInce whiteness is bad, I guess Michigan State won’t be hurt by the loss of Goran Suton at all. Oh, and since when does the ACC only have two teams? Maryland, Georgia Tech, and Clemson are highly regarded teams that could easily go deep into the tournament, and have nothing to do with Dickie V or his Kool-Aid. Not to mention potential tourney teams in VT and Wake Forest. Ever heard of Greivis Vasquez? I think a little bit of research, over rash generalizations, would have given you more perspective on these poll results.
ACC First off, everybody absolutely loves Ed Davis, and as far as I can tell just by looking at his stat lines for these first couple of games its not like he’s dominating. Sure he’s averaging about 10 10 and 3 blks but against who? FIU and NC Central. Evan Turner, who is one of the top 3 players in the country IMO, is averaging 19 17 and 7 ast against these 1-AA teams. The difference is that I don’t think UNC is a true Final Four contender because they had to replace way too much to expect to not skip a beat. And that Duke thing was just a joke; don’t take it seriously. But if UNC is expected to do better than them then that right there says a lot about how good they are(n’t) to me. The ACC doesn’t have a true FF contender, while the Big Ten clearly has at least two pending the health of Raymar Morgan for MSU and Hummel. So ACC has about 6 maybe 7 in the NCAAs, and the BigTen will have 7-9 teams going dancing (MSU, Purdue, tOSU, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, an underrated Northwestern, maybe Penn State and Indiana (I’d say 2 out of those last 3)). The first 7 will definitely make the tournament. And just because we score 38 points to win a game only means the defense is that good. And for the players? Well, we return everyone on the All-BigTen first team.
wow I’m very suprised the ACC is getting this many votes. I would say the ACC probably has the third best conference this year. There is a major drop off after you get passed UNC and Duke. There is a lot of hype around Georgia Tech possibly being a Top 15 team but they are still unproven. The Big 12 has the two best teams in the country in my opinion in Texas and Kansas, a very good Oklahoma team and a pretty solid group of Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Texas Tech. The Big Ten, however, I think is clearly the best conference in the nation and it is surprising to me that people on this website (which I must say usually has some pretty knowledgeable fan comments on it) would vote the ACC as a better conference than the Big Ten and Big 12. The Big Ten has a legitimate national championship contender in Michigan State, a possible Elite 8/FF team in Purdue, possible sweet 16 teams in Ohio State, Michigan, and Illinois, and very, very underrated Minnesota team. I just don’t see how anyone who is knowledgeable college basketball fan can honestly say the ACC is the best conference in the country based on what we know now.
big 12 I hate to say this because im a big east guy… the big 12 is stacked. Kansas is going to be a powerhouse along with Texas. Oklahoma still has willie warren, craig brackins and iowa state will have a good year, oklahoma state will get in the tourney, missouri will as well. And then bubble teams in at least texas a&m and kansas state is improving. big 12 for me.
Agree with Huskies100 I hate to say this as well, as I too, am a Big East Fan. I like the Big 12 this year, they have two power house teams in Texas and Kansas who can be rank #1. All the other teams in that conference is pretty good as well. I think the Big 10 is a better conference than the ACC as well. They ACC will have Duke and UNC, and some nosie from Maryland and GT. Besides that, I think the ACC is over rated as well. Whats new though? ACC is always over rated, they only talk about to schools in that conference, UNC and Duke. Big Ten will have better overall schools in teams like, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and a Sleeper in Minnesota. I’m going to say this now, Minnesota is going to be the biggest sleeper in this conference if their star freshman player gets to play. He’ll give them a legitiment go to player on offesnse that they are missing. He’s just got to stop being so ghetto and robbing people.
