NOT A BIG DEAL AT ALL Childress left because his GM kept drafting on top of him. They did not want to trade him and he did not fit in. There was no reason to take him with Josh Smith in 2004, draft Marvin Williams in 2005 and Shelden Williams in 2006. Knight recognized that eventually and traded Shelden to Sacramento. Childress saw there was no place for him on that team and he had better opportunities overseas.
Look for Marvin Williams to try to leave ATL as well. The league should not be worried at all. NBA basketball pays and plays the best when front offices make the right decisions.
