Trade The Kings would get lamar odom, who would put up very good numbers. The lakers would get artest, who i think would be a better fit as the number 3 option, because artest can knock down a shot, handle the ball, and on top of that you would have kobe and artest, both all-nba defenders on the perimeter, with gasol and bynum(two seven footers) behind them to block shots. That would have been a better matchup against the celtics.
On paper, this obviously On paper, this obviously works best for the Lake show. But putting Artest and Kobe in the same locker room?? You’re just plain asking for a locker room blowup as soon as they go on a losing streak.
I dont think they woul lose I dont think they would lose too many games. That to me is as close to an mj and scottie duo ever. They can both score, rebound, handle the ball, and play defense. The Lakers have a very good post scorer in gasol, and a monster rebounder and shot blocker in bynum. Why couldn’t that team win 63 to 68 games.
BATHBALLER AGREEMENT I can agree with bathballer about the attitudes that will flare up in that locker room. Kobe is not a good teammate nor has high moral character (Shaq can attest to that). Artest is a…free spirit to say the least (He said he is going to act as his own agent this offseason….?????). When times get rough or when Kobe decides he wants to give up on his team like he did versus Phoenix a few years back and in Game 6 in the Finals, he is sure to hear it from Artest.
One variable that could keep them in check though is Phil Jackson. He is great at managing various personalities for the betterment of the team. He kept Rodman focused and Shaq happy for a very long time.
Artest would help the Lakers but I still do not think he will get them to the title. I say keep the team as is because you are adding Andrew Bynum next year which is going to help out a great deal. Less pressure on Odom which can equate to more production.
