Aran Smith – 9/25/2006

Strengths: Extremely athletic player with good length Very explosive, really attacks the basket hard and converts some jaw dropping dunks Able to outclass a lot of opponents athletically around the basket on the college level Can use his foot speed to get by defenders facing the basket, but lacks the ball handling ability to operate against guards and small forwards Does most of his damage in the paint, scoring on ally oops, put backs and dunks Runs the floor hard, shows a high level of energy and effort Increased his rebounding numbers significantly as a junior, showing solid rebounding ability in the tough Big East His quick leaping ability and length makes him an excellent shot blocker on the college level …

Weaknesses: Lacks a great feel for the game Often looks lost on the court, especially offensively Has no real offensive game to speak of and struggles shooting the ball Has not shown the improvement many expected since he arrived at Syracuse Might be closer to 6-8 than 6-9, and lacks tremendous strength His free throw shooting is atrocious (41%) as a junior, and apparently has gotten inside his head as his numbers have steadily declined from the stripe Lacks range on his shot. Cant shoot from beyond 5-8 feet A tweener. He lacks the versatility to play the small forward position, with no real range, passing (vision) or ball handling ability
