Nico Van den Bogaerd – 2/21/2008

Strengths: Catalan forward Albert Moncasi has a long and quite athletic body, paired with good agility and quickness. Also runs the floor very well … Has a good offensive skill set, both facing and back to the basket … Solid ball handling with both hands and okay passing, also enjoying a soft touch on his drives and finishing near the rim …

Weaknesses: Due to his slim body frame, gets pushed off balance easily …With a lack of experience playing the 3 position, hes not yet reliable dribbling the ball up if necessary … His pick and roll game is acceptable, but would be good to see him set tougher picks … At this moment already at ACB level a tweener between SF and PF … Would really need to develop a reliable perimeter game to play the 3. His 4-5 m range jumper doesnt convince at all, so logically he lacks confidence in it … Nonetheless his stroke and release are technically fine. Defensively intimidation and shot blocking is poor, mainly due to being relatively soft in general, also affecting his rebounding … Big question mark if he can ultimately elevate his intensity and work ethics enough to continue his development necessary to become an elite player in Europe.

Outlook: Not having a clear position could actually benefit him offensively, if he can become a better shooter, able to create mismatches. On defense on the other hand he will be the one suffering mismatches, as hes not able to guard a normally quick SF nor a strong PF. To my personal judgment not an NBA prospect, but if his attitude could catch up with his skills and potential, hell become a very good player in Europe.

Aran Smith – 1/1/2005

Strengths: One of Spain’s better big man prospects … Has good size and athleticism … His mobility and coordination are good … has nice touch around the basket …

Weaknesses: Lacks experience … Still playing with the Juniors … Has not proved it on the Senior level …
